56k with 128 quality sound...

Ive seen a few shoutcast stations doing this...

how are they doing this... and is it possible to improve the sound from 24k output?

Is it that vorbis codec or something?

FesterHead 27th June 2003 15:52

Maybe they're using the mp3pro encoder?

matt2kjones 27th June 2003 19:56

ahhh they broadcasting in mono???

if so, a mono stream at 56k will sound the same as a sterio 112k stream

Dj-DarKing 27th June 2003 20:01

but how do you do that ? you have to make a script or is there somewhere one available ?

Jay 27th June 2003 20:06

just pick a different encoding selection in the DSP plugin.

Well Im specifically looking at this one:
http://www.hot108.com/

These guys have a MAGNIFICENT stream at 56k....

and im trying to find out how they did it.

FesterHead 27th June 2003 22:01

Probably the 56kbps 44kHz mono

Doesn't sound that great.
Too much low end and it clips a little.

I have to agree with Festerhead. It's just heavy audio compression (not like mp3, volume compression) with an already mono-oriented genre.

The highs are pretty sloppy and watery too.

okay i wasnt sure if there was some new amazing audio codec out there that I wasnt aware of making great sound.

So this will do... i wish I could actually write audio compression software myself... i wish i actually understood it enough to experiment with it.

Thanks for your time guys.. i appreciate the assistance...

p.s. dammit.
