Like a lot of stuff, she's an acquired taste. In her music she comes through as jaded, cynical, "loose", flirtatious and dirty-minded. Her style's not at all pretentious, and in fact very raw the farther back you go. That's why Exile is her best studio album, by far. It's inventive and fresh, one of best "garage" releases of the 90's. Her demos before it were great, too, recorded in her bedroom with an acoustic guitar, mic, and 4-track. Over the years she evolves into "scripted megapop"-sounding stuff up to her latest album, which is why most people appreciate Exile the most. I like it all, personally. ;)

I don't know if I have a favorite album. There are however four albums that I've been listening to fairly constantly since I got them, and have yet to get sick of:

Quadrophenia, by The Who
Us and Up, by Peter Gabriel
Along the Way, by Bill Ward

The last one took a hiatus of several years before I figured out how to copy a record onto my computer. Now it's back, and I love it more than ever.

@Cylob ill have to try and find those ones.

I have far too many.. so i wont bother.

Cylob 21st December 2003 17:58

I have far too much 'stuff' as well. I said to myself, I'll concentrate on dreampop & electroclash.... Little did I realise there are 10,000s of songs in each of those genres.

God, give me an extra hour per day.....
