Waveout plugin under Device : What is difference between options ?

When I want to configure the waveout plugin, under Device the default setting is "Microsoft Sound...". Besides that I can choose "SB Audigy WaveOut." (my soundcard).
What is the difference between these settings in effect and which one should I choose ?
I searched in the Documentation of Winamp, but I can't find a description of these settings.
I would appreciate it if someone could explain it for me.

MS Sound Mapper refers to the default sound device selected in Windows' Sounds/Multimedia Control Panel. If you've only got one soundcard/device, then in your case, Sound Mapper should be exactly the same as SB Audigy.
