Playlist Editor (with customized fields in tree view)
Hi, Y'all.
I've been searching --so far-- in vain for a FREE Tag Editor and a Playlist Editor that has more capabilities than the current Winamp 2.91. I'm fully aware that there are "zillions" of tag editors and playlist editor/organizer that are truly freeware; but, so far, the ones that I've tried has so much limitations. For someone who is into putting almost 2,000 [and growing] MP3s on my computer I definitely need more options than the [boring] artist, genre, album, track description, and etc. And to have bitrate and track number are not necessarily bonuses. So, then, where can I find a good freeware playlist organizer/editor that can integrate and/or stand alone to catolog my numerous MP3s that I play on my Winamp 2.91? I like the various options on the Windows Media Player but I'd rather something similar to it or something like MEXP. Actually, I thought MEXP was a freeware and it was 95% better than all the others I was used to, but then I found out that I have to pay for using it. Isn't there a freeware ID3 Tag Editor and Playlist Organizer/Editor out there that I don't know about. Think about it. I'm into organizing my MP3s into groups, moods, comments, labels, categories, and other personolized categories so that instead of using Jazz as a genre, I label the relevant MP3s as INSTRUMENTAL. Then I categorise into traditional or contempary jazz. Then I might sub-divide into Mellow Moods or Nostalgia. Then I might go into Fast & Upbeat or Slow & Easy Listening. But right now Winamp 2.91 doesn't give that flexibilty and it's hard to generate a playlist from 2,000 songs. Any suggested freeware that can do that or even come close? |
I agree fully! I have approximately 10,000 mp3's on my system (not to mention the DivX content) that I need to be able to browse easily. WinAMP's Media Library is a joke for this task. I REALLY hate it, but I end up using RealONE or WiMP for this.
I would LOVE to see a RealONE/WiMP-style file browser/playlist editor that uses WinAMP as its player (or even better, one that allows you to use a player of your choice), mySQL as the database, a truly powerful ID3 editor, and of course open source. I've seriously considered doing it myself, but alas my measly coding skills are not up to the task (yet). Hell, I don't even care if they want to charge money for a distro. I will pay! If someone knows of something like this it would be a godsend ... |
See if there's anything suitable listed here . . .

Winamp Library works just fine for me. |
That is an incomprehensible amount of music. I have 3,000, and it is almost more than I know what to deal with. I have listened to everything several times, but I just can't imagine what 10 times more music even looks like.
Sheesh! |
