Pink Floyd and the Wizard of Oz

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Has anyone ever taken a vinyl copy (it only works with vinyl) of Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon and played it to the Wizard of Oz? It goes along with the film (sound effects, lyrics, etc) Everyone I tell thinks I'm crazy, but I works I tell you! I tried it. You have to start the record right at the third roar of the MGM lion in the beginning. Anyone ever tried it? I need people to vouch for me, to prove I'm not crazy.

Cylob 8th August 2003 14:56

I haven't got a record player now!!! With Pink Floyd I can quite believe it, but it's probably just a coincidence that it matches.

Mr Jones 8th August 2003 15:05

Why does it only work with vinyl?,

Mr_007 8th August 2003 15:39

Good!
also this two team work with all?

Mattress 8th August 2003 17:16

I've heard of it before, but never tried it.

Wouldn't the movie be a bit longer than the album?

I should try it I suppose since I have a few copies of DSotM on vinyl laying around somewhere.

That one goes on the hard drive.

The logical continuation ofthe positive correlation between Marijuanna and Music Over-appreciation.

I tried it once and was very surprised that it actually worked................. Then I thought I was crazy so I had my friend do try it and she confirmed it.......I am crazy, but they are in sync with eachother.

FesterHead 8th August 2003 23:23

Weren't Dark Side of the Moon, The Wizard of Oz, and Apollo lunar landing filmed/recorded in the same studio?

MetallichicA 8th August 2003 23:52

How weird, I was just talking about this yesterday at work, and today I brought my copy in to show them. They do match up, quite a bit in fact. When Mrs. Gulch appears, riding her bicycle, the clock chimes start. When she shuts the gate, they stop. When Dorothy opens her door into the world of Oz, the beginning of Money plays (*ch-ching!*). There's a good website somewhere that lists all the similarities. I've heard Pink Floyd denies everything, but a lot of these are BIG coincidences....

Mattress 11th August 2003 14:57

Why would Pink Floyd do this though, when was DSotM recorded? When was WoO filmed? way before people had the ability to watch movies in their homes, when did VCRs come out? like in the 80's or something.

thedoggfather 11th August 2003 16:59

I watched it once, it is really quite amazing. From what I've heard though, it is entirely conincidental. There was a synced copy floating around Kazaa for a while, don't know if it is still there?

laz 11th August 2003 23:13

I "tryed" to get it, I saw it once, but I could never get connected to get it.
I myself would like to see how this works and all.
They did have movie projectores to watch the film on now. VCR's just made it soo much easter.

laz 12th August 2003 06:53

there really was a hanging short man, I think they digitaly took that out in later releases. or so I think.
Must have been some strong pot for that many ppl to have seen it...

Fickle 13th August 2003 02:57

I've seen the "Hanging man" a couple times in my home movie. At least the one when they start singing with the tin man. It's somone poking thier head through the backdrop.

Also, I've heard it works with the CD as well, not just Vinyl. That's why when they released it on CD there was a big uproar.

Pot smoking is fun.

one of the actors that played the munchkins hung himself during filming, but the producer didn't want to reshoot the scene, so they left it it. that's really creepy.

true story.

i've downloaded the synched version from kazaa, it's pretty damn coincidental.

taylormemer 22nd August 2003 07:47

Ok im not a real huge fan of Pink Floydprobably coz im 14, but it found my dads old vinyl Dark Side Of The Moon and got the Wizard Of Oz Tape out and then............................... Ok yep its in sync, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm creepy.

MetallichicA 22nd August 2003 11:55

It's not a hanging man or a person, it's a bird. I've heard that's the final word on it from several sources. If you look closely at that scene, you can tell.

I have the synched copy, got it about 5 years ago and haven't gotten rid of it even though Chris thinks it's dumb :p Trust me, if you keep an open mind (with or without drugs, I guess), you'll see the coincidences.

Here's a link to the definitive list:

Read that while you're watching it!

Fickle 24th August 2003 02:52

okay, so it's a bird. but why a bird? Why would they have a bird in the back of a fake hill that fades into a backdrop?

Course drugs help when figuring these things out, especially when listening to Dark Side of The Moon.

music_man_mpc 28th August 2003 16:36

I actually have a DivX version of The Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of The Moon as the audio track, instead of the origonal. Its sweet as hell!

Captain Seifer 28th August 2003 17:04
