This says that I was added succesfully, but when I try to listen in or anyone else who has tried, it says [could not connect].

Please help! :(

I'm fairly new to this so I could of missed something, but I'm not sure.

What address did you give out?

Isotoniik 22nd August 2003 11:47

http://www.isotoniik.cc:8000./

drzoid 22nd August 2003 11:52

Well, this seems to be your website but you have to give out the IP address or hostname of the machine running the SHOUTcast server.

Isotoniik 22nd August 2003 12:08

I tried using my IP, but that didn't work either. So if someone wanted to tune into my broadcast, I would give them this address for instance: http://198.168.1.5 ?

When I login into my admin account on my website the IP address is different than the one I specified. Should I try using that 1?

I'm not @ home now so I'll give it another try later..

drzoid 22nd August 2003 12:12

Your website does not have anything to do with it. Your users should be able to listen to your stream by going to http://198.168.1.5:8000/ (respectively http://198.168.1.5:8000/listen.pls for a direct link). Make sure you have forwared all necessary ports (in case there is a router/ADSL modem) and that a possibly existent firewall does not block the connection.

Isotoniik 22nd August 2003 12:16

Oh, ok. I'll try that when I get home and let you know. Thanks! :)

If your router doesn't support local loopback then machines on the same lan as the DNAS (you) need to use the lan ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.

Machines not on the same lan as the DNAS (the rest of the world) need to use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.

djmastermind 22nd August 2003 18:02

In other words, you must use your real world IP.. you can find this at www.whatismyip.com and once you get that, simply place it in the url:
http://yourIP:yourport
or (to bring up WinAmp)
http://yourIP:yourport/listen.pls
