10 posts to destruction

Back when will took someone's postcount back down to zero because they said "postcount++", I said that they would remove the postcounts when I reached my 4999th post(therefore making me mad - not real mad, but kinda dissappointed). Do you think it will happen?

[edit]And here's where it all happened:http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....29#post1051929[/edit]

apollos 27th August 2003 17:33

you like me have a lot of free time on your hands to waste :p

hgnis 27th August 2003 17:34

They can remove yours if you like right now. :p

pixiefied 27th August 2003 17:34

yeah I do. I'm in between two classes right now and I don't have anything else to do.:p

Vie 27th August 2003 19:11

Good god, I dread to think what mine is... ..I doubt they will, and if they did, only for a joke.

White Raven 28th August 2003 03:03

I like my post count, I like to see it to make sure I don't post overly much and get the label as a Pumper, because I like to think that whatever I post has at least a little bit of informative or expressive value.

I guess it does have a little bit of a vain value in it, too, I like to see how many posts I've made, I'm proud of my 1800-900 summod posts. (Been a while since I last checked.)

ryan 28th August 2003 03:05

1891 :P

anubis2003 28th August 2003 03:05

I agree to WR.

Postcount is a staple of these forums. I would still come here without them, but it would make things weird.

anubis2003 28th August 2003 03:16

Well, if it's still there after this post, then I guess we made it. Yay.:p

dlinkwit27 28th August 2003 04:08

still here. I hope they stay. I like being able to see how new a member is.

griffinn 28th August 2003 04:10

At least you took the precautionary measure to disguise what's essentially a "My 5000th post!" thread.

The month and year next to registered: under each post tells you that, and if you click the profile button you can see the exact date.

Post count has no bearing on how 'new' a member is.

yea it does. I joined here in 2000, but didn't post much until mid '02. Now if they simply wet by date, they would assume I know my way around here, and if I posted a dumb tech support question or what not they would have thought I was just being an ass. If they see that this is only my 5th post, then they know to be "nicer" and point me in the right direction. Count has a lot to do with "newness"

to sum it up: STFU n00b!!!!!1

:p

Excuse me, I thought it goes like, "The count has a lot to do with the countess."

I phrased that horribly wrong. :igor: Postcount has of lot to do with being able to get a rough idea of how new a member is to the forums. I mean like, let's say I post a stupid tech support question tha tis in the FAQ. If i did that now, people woudl think i shoudl no better, and tell me shut up. If I had 2 posts, they would (hopefully) be nicer about it and maybe give me a link or somthing. It helps you know how aware a member is of the rest of teh board. Did I explain that better that time? I hope so, cause I am going to bed, so if not. You an wait till morning for a better one. :D

whiteflip 28th August 2003 10:55

Post count is not as important as posts per day. Too high and you probably pump. Too low and you dont know what the hell goes on in here.

Damn, you figured me out. :p

will 28th August 2003 11:00

great! so now you have reached 5000 posts, you can perhaps start thinking about quality rather than quantity?

anubis2003 28th August 2003 11:03

I haven't ever been going for quantity, will. I try to post quality, but what is quality for me may not be for you. Sure, I posted a lot in the game threads, but that's because it was fun at the time. I post very little in them now, because the fun of them no longer outweighs the unfun of being called a damn postpumper by everyone(although I do agree that it is somewhat postpumping).

Xerxes 28th August 2003 11:09

Simply arguing about what is and isn't pumping is a form of pumping in and of itself!

I am tempted to lock.

Viper007Bond 28th August 2003 11:25

Obviously not:

Total Posts: 5003 (20.81 posts per day)

Raz 28th August 2003 11:31

You are all neurotic whingeing people obssesed with everyones post count.

whiteflip 29th August 2003 08:41

I hate those posts that are several paragraphs long.

I just skim em and skip em.

White Raven 29th August 2003 21:12

Wow whiteflip, you must skip me a whole damn lot. :D

mikm 29th August 2003 21:32

I registered in early 2001, but didn't start posting much here until late last year (when I got broadband), so my posts per day is skewed.

godoncrack 29th August 2003 21:42

boredom and liquer contribute much to all of these topics
