Apology

Hi everyone:

In case you were tuned in yesterday and today, you may have noticed that my station was playing a loop of a porn video which I like to view offline for my *ahem* "pleasure". Unfortunately, this was all transmitted via SHOUTcast for all to hear and done BY MY COMPUTER **WITHOUT** MY KNOWLEDGE.

I generally use the Nullsoft NULL audio output plugin to send audio WITHOUT tying up my audio resources. As such, I was NOT able to hear what was being transmitted and DID NOT know until I went to tune into my station with another instance of Winamp.

I truly regret the transmission of the audio portion of the porn clip as this was DEFINATELY NOT intentional. This was PURELY accidental. I hope this doesn't stop you from listening to what TRULY IS *THE* Best Mix Of Comedy, Talk & Old Time Radio.

Meanwhile, measures WILL be taken to ensure this NEVER happens again.

Embarrassingly Yours,

Hi everyone:

Well....When you consider my station broadcasts OLD TIME RADIO shows, it can be a rather serious matter. People within the OTR Community are often VERY picky about which stations they listen to.

But one lesson has been learned. That is to NEVER take it for granted that WinMX will spawn another instance of Winamp (I have Winamp set to allow multiple instances BYW) to play the video. thank goodness the other P2P programs use the embedded Windows Media Player plugin. :-)

This way, I can enjoy my videos and the rest of the world can enjoy my OTR collection. :-)

In short, it was kinda comical in hindsight, but *technically* it was, in all likelihood, ILLEGAL because it was, in all likelihood, in violation of (AT LEAST) the SHOUTcast TOS since the filename was no doubt plainly visible in the NOW PLAYING section of the SHOUTcast Directory.

At worst, it was also probably a violation of the law. But since I'm here now and wasn't hauled off to jail, I'm assuming that no one called the FBI.

Having said that, here's to lessons learned... :)

Cheers for now :)

you have free rite of speach, and some stations release the uncut stuff and don't get sent to prison (just the users beware)

additionally another reason why porn bad :D

LollipopLustKil 7th September 2003 03:57

Haha. Now when you say it was probably illegal, do you mean you were downloading CHILD porn or something?

Just out of curiosity, about how many pron clips would you say you have? ;) I ask this because you sound like you do what I do and just download videos off the 'net rather than go to some video store to buy them.

And since this was brought up, I wonder how many other people in our community do this ;)

Again, this is just out of curiosity (albeit perhaps a little morbid :weird: ). No study is being taken. You, nor your computer, will be hauled in to the Police (at least not by me).

Cheers for now :)

How many folks were tuned into your mishap and how long was the average listen?

Jeeper One 7th September 2003 07:42

Hi everyone:

At the time I discovered it, no one (fortunately).

Unfortunately, because of the duration of the event, only time will tell if I've lost any listeners because of it or how many people stumbled across it while tuning in via their winamp Favorites folder.

Aside from that, I'm not really worried. :)

This really isn't the forum to ask this in... Try the comunity center for best results

DJ AmPs 8th September 2003 15:29

what was the file name?

Jeeper One 8th September 2003 18:01

Hi everyone:

Amps - Some of the words in the filename aren't repeatable here.

Patrick
