Connection problem with winamp (NOT NAT)

Hey peeps, thought I'd ask for help for once... :)

Got all set up, worked yesterday, not today... Winamp disconnected from my server during the night, will not connect anymore... Nothing changed, same ports open, same external ip, no firewalls...

It's weird, sc doesnt give any error messages either...

(basically waiting for winamp to kick in...)

One thing... havent reinstalled winamp, will try that, but I doubt that it'll help at all...

I have worked in tech-support since 1996, but here I'm stumped... :)
oh yea... Xpprosp1...

Anybody seen this?

It looks all okay to me.. are you saying that when you try to start WinAmp, it doesn't even realized it's trying to connect?

LollipopLustKil 6th September 2003 07:17

Did you try pressing that box that says 'Connect' in the SHOUTcast DSP yet?

AgNOsTiC 6th September 2003 13:38

Its trying to connect, but can't... Its like winamp doesnt get that sc is running.

Ive set reconnet to 5secs, and automatically connect... Its trying to connect for a few secs, then disconnects. "connecting... not connected... connecting... not connected... connecting.... not connected etc etc" ad infinitum.

Checked password... it's the same in winamp as in sc sc_serv.ini

djmastermind 6th September 2003 15:00

and you have the address right? Make sure the IPs are matching in the config file and the source. Most likely 'localhost' or '127.0.0.1'

LollipopLustKil 6th September 2003 16:34

In the SHOUTcast DSP write 'localhost (without the quotes).

Did you change SrcIP or DestIP from ANY in the sc_serv file?

AgNOsTiC 6th September 2003 17:15

thanx folks!

Works now, wrote localhost in the dsp, did the trick... Strange that it worked for a couple of days...

Heh, but now you cant connect to the ext. ip... :)

ANY set up in config, should work... also:

any ideas?

LollipopLustKil 6th September 2003 18:05

Double check your IP. http://www.whatismyip.com

FesterHead 6th September 2003 18:27

DNAS link: http://212.242.113.222:8000
Listen link: http://212.242.113.222:8000/listen.pls

if your router doesn't support local loopback then machines on the same lan as the DNAS (you) need to use the lan ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.
Machines not on the same lan as the DNAS (the rest of the world) need to use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.

AgNOsTiC 6th September 2003 22:16

its a zyxel, have activated the loopback with some help from techsupp... cant find server inside or outside the lan, can find myself listed on shoutcast.com too, but cant connect... its weird...

FesterHead 6th September 2003 22:23

http://212.242.113.222:8000/ -> Cannot find server or DNS Error

1. Is your DNAS (SHOUTcast server) on?

2. Is your IP dynamic?

AgNOsTiC 6th September 2003 22:41

its up now, connected up and running, but i cant connect... ive got dynamic ip yes, but i checked it in the router, its correct...

djmastermind 6th September 2003 23:19

Try connecting to your stream using you local/LAN IP.

djmastermind 6th September 2003 23:23

Since you have a dynamic IP:

Quote:

You can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com (not as cool as that, though :)) from http://www.no-ip.com or one of the other myriad of Dynamic DNS Services.
Then, your links would be:
DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls

AgNOsTiC 6th September 2003 23:34

connecting to the local ip works fine, but not the external one...

djmastermind 6th September 2003 23:39

As long as it works for others, you're okay. You'll just have to connect using the local IP if you want to listen to your own stream.

AgNOsTiC 7th September 2003 00:57

thats the problem, doesnt work for anybody, only on my internal network, using local ips...

LollipopLustKil 7th September 2003 01:38

It works for me.
