realmedia in winamp3...ALMOST there
I'm SOOO close, and I can see the finish line. Here's how I've gotten it to work so far:
1. If you go to the kazaa lite page, www.k-lite.tk, you will see a link on the left for a program called RealAlternative. It's just what the name implies--an alternative to realplayer. However, what it doesn't tell you it does is it basically installs realmedia video and audio codecs to work with any media player. 2. To test it out, I opened a realmedia file in Windows Media Player and it worked perfectly. 3. I tried opening the file in Winamp3, but it wouldn't play. So I simply renamed the file to .avi, and it played beautifully, with 1 problem: THE COLOR IS INVERTED. Everything else looks fantastic, but the color thing is driving me insane. Anybody have any thoughts on how to fix this? |
being that realmedia is a proprietary format, I believe that any "hacking" you are doing to get it to play in any unlicensed media player is therefore illegal...
the real question is, why would you want to?
because i don't feel like converting 400 videos in realmedia that i have to something else, because 1) it would be a pain, and 2) even if i could, there is NO reliable software to convert from realmedia to anything else.

Does the same happen in Winamp 2?
nope, it looks fine in winamp2. I'd really like to see it working in Winamp3, however, because I like the way the multiple playlists and queueing work in WA3, and until WA5 comes out I'd like to use it.
by the way, i tried installing a 'fresh' copy of winamp3 and it still inverts the color.
I even tried an older build of Winamp3, and still the same problem. Is there a way to implement the video player from 2.91 into Winamp3?
Download DivX....
I already have divx...how would that help in this situation?
It's a known bug in Winamp3, fixed in build 499. However I'd recommend using 2.9 myself ;).
