The Basics; Please Help

ok this is going to sound really stupid but basically I've just downloaded shoutcast and I have winamp.

But basically I want to get a radio station up but I do not know how. What am I supposed to type in the 'Address' bit, because I have tried my I.P. address and the one in the read me file and neither will allow me to connect.

status says not connected, station ID is sort of made unusable, port says 8000, the password box is filled with something (i didnt write it), and encoder is on 1.

so how do I get my radio station up? what exactly goes in the address bar that will allow me to connect because at the moment it takes a while trying to connect then says not connected?

this post probably sounds really stupid but I am in need of help.

Put localhost in the 'Address' box. If you changed your password in the sc_serv file, change it to what you changed it to, if not, don't touch it.

If the DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo are on the same machine, then use "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" (without the quotes) as the Address in the DSP.

If the DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo are on different machines but on the same lan, then use the lan ip of the DNAS as the Address in the DSP.

Else, use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS as the Address in the DSP.

Finally, if you've changed the DNAS variables SrcIP and/or DestIP please set them back to "ANY" (without the quotes) unless you have more than 1 real, world-visible ip address for the DNAS machine or you know exactly wht you are doing.
