Tip of the day in getting prompt free technical support:
Write in complete sentences using valid grammer syntax and punctuation.

**********************

Do you have a DNAS (SHOUTcast server) installed?

If so, any errors in the DNAS log?

Did you change the DNAS variables srcIP and destIP from ANY?

Is your DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same machine?

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

Please answer them all to expidite your help request.

Please read some polite advice.

BlueSteaL 7th September 2003 13:52

yes i have the server installed and running when i connect to 1.1.1.5 from the computer its running on this is the error that comes up

<09/07/03@09:48:23> [source] connected from 1.1.1.5
<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-name:Unnamed Server ; icy-genre:
<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com
<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A
<09/07/03@09:48:26> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<09/07/03@09:48:26> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (please type something else in the stream title/description field)

then it times out

and when i try to connect to 24.168.24.202 from my computer that its running on it says

<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-name:Unnamed Server ; icy-genre:
<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com
<09/07/03@09:48:24> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A
<09/07/03@09:48:26> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<09/07/03@09:48:26> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (please type something else in the stream title/description field)

then it times out

for the third one if your saying did i change the ini file.. :P all i changed was the password not adminpass just password

yes its on the same computer

and i came here for help not people telling me how to write sentences...

LollipopLustKil 7th September 2003 15:33

I'm not sure, but have you tried typing something in the Title field? :p

FesterHead 7th September 2003 18:01

Aye, as the error and LollipopLustKil suggest, type something in the title field.

Then, get ready for another "yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (please type something in the genre field)" which of course you'll type something in the genre field.

Thanks for answering the questions. You're almost there and appear to be doing the right things..

S: and i came here for help not people telling me how to write sentences...
R: I'm telling you how to get prompt free technical support.

I don't care in what manner you usually write, but posting a giant run-on sentence (in the wrong forum) and complaining about not getting results doesn't help.

BlueSteaL 7th September 2003 20:20

"Write in complete sentences using valid grammer syntax and punctuation."

and i have no idea what the title feild is

Tom 7th September 2003 21:34

In the DSP: Output tab > Yellowpages > Description

Tom

BlueSteaL 7th September 2003 21:50

i did enter the infromation into that and it still dident work

LollipopLustKil 8th September 2003 00:47

Same error message?

BlueSteaL 8th September 2003 01:08

no it dosent say anaything lol

LollipopLustKil 8th September 2003 01:11

Did you press connect in the SHOUTcast DSP? If you don't try and connect, no message comes up.

BlueSteaL 8th September 2003 21:52

it dosent say anaything it just times out

FesterHead 8th September 2003 22:01

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

Since the Winamp/DSP combo is on the same machine as the DNAS, try "127.0.0.1" or "localhost" (both withot the quotes) as the Address.

BlueSteaL 8th September 2003 23:22

i have tryed that and i cant even connect to it on like the winamp playlist when i click it it says [connecting]24.168.24.202:8000 then it says [timeout]24.168.24.202:8000

FesterHead 8th September 2003 23:30

Are we talking about connecting a source or connecting to listen?

LollipopLustKil 8th September 2003 23:30

Did you put localhost in the 'Address' box?

BlueSteaL 8th September 2003 23:58

Yeah, and it says timeout on both the source and while connecting, or atleast trying to connect.

LollipopLustKil 9th September 2003 00:03

Post the whole log in the DNAS monitor.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 20:26

it dosent say anaything it just sits there

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 21:06

It says nothing at all? No startup?

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 21:18

yeah well it says some stuff when i start it up but nothing else

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 21:58

Does it just say 'Connecting...' for awhile in the SHOUTcast DSP when you press Connect?

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:00

yeah then it times out.. im listning to your radio :D

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:04

;)

What are you putting in the boxes in the DSP?

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:05

uhh like the name of the server and stuff...

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:07

The 'Address' box and 'Port' box and stuff.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:09

i tryed my ip i tryed localhost i tryed 1.1.1.5 (i have a linksys) prety mutch everything i could think of.. :P

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:10

Put "localhost" (without the quotes) in the 'Address' box.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:10

i tryed that...

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:14

Try it again, press Connect, and copy and paste what it says in the DNAS log here.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:14

i just did lol

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:20

The ENTIRE log.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:22

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:24

it says nothing just the stuff after i start it up it

LollipopLustKil 11th September 2003 22:27

Are you sure you're pressing Connect in the DSP? There will be something said in the DNAS log no matter what if you press it.

BlueSteaL 11th September 2003 22:37

yeah i do... :-/
