Australian based Shoutcast Servers??

Does anyone know of an ISP in Australia that understands Shoutcast? I want to get a relay server based here up and running.

Data is expensive here so it is not a common practice here.

A pricing model similar to Streamguys etc would be nice. Obviously not as cheap though!

He's in Austrailia, but his box is on the Verio network here in the US. Very good service by the way!

Hmmm, what did that help us with? He is in Aus, his business' webserver is in the US. The 64.xx address is not the server he uses for customers. It is on the 207.44.144.x network. Very fast and extremely reliable.

Thanks guys I've emailed Sean from Hasnolimit. We are discussing as we type. I'm really wanting Austrlian based but I know it is an ask so we will see thanks all

also looking

I am also looking for a server in Australia....
I only do my radio show 3 hours a day though - maybe some one can lend me their server seeing as I will hardly use it?
If not I am still looking for servers in OZ.

What's the point of seeking an "australian" host if the servers are not in australia? BTW... Doesn't sound like a very easy trip to the datacenter for the admin.

1. I never said the servers were in Austrailia.

2. Why would the admin need to visit the datacenter if his sh!t works?

3. Maybe having the admin _in_ Austrailia would help customers _in_ Austrailia.

DJ AmPs 12th September 2003 16:59

1. Didn't say that -- the original question was about hosting based in australia. Here:

"Does anyone know of an ISP in Australia that understands Shoutcast? I want to get a relay server based here up and running. "

To me he's looking for a shoutcast server in Australia, not the US. This makes sense -- if your listeners will be in Australia, theres no point in having 60 hops between you and your listeners going back and forth across the world.

2. If the 'admin' of a server has no access to his servers what can he do if there is a problem?

3. OK, so they meet for lunch or something... sounds good.

bit of a double edged sword though cos it means that listeners outside of Australia would have the afforementioned 60 hops to tune in (would it real be that many ?), for this to be worthwhile you would have to be pretty sure you would be getting most of your listeners from Australia.

DJ AmPs 12th September 2003 22:22

i meant possible 60 hops from australia to US then back again to all the listeners. Could be anywhere from 15-30 each way.

but yea you're right it really depends on where you expect your listening audience to be.
