Multi users
I have a radio station up and now thatnks to the replies from this forum.
A couple of my mates have asked if they can use my radio station to dj/broadcast from, from their home pc (different ip addy etc etc) I use no-ip as a forwarding address for my radio. so is it possible to do this?? they dont want to setup their own station, but use mine...if they can, my pc is usually up 24/7 would i leave the server up and running and winamp or just the server or what??..or wouldnt it work.... Ideas?:igor: |
yea simple... tell em to change on the winamp dsp the address, port, and password accordingly to your settings
(notice localhost won't work sense the dsb streaming to your server requires the real world IP address) |
OK, so.....
1. Im on a dynamic IP but i use no-ip to DNS the IP 2. I have changed my setting from localhost to my PC IP adddress 3. Give them my no-ip address, port and password?? 4. Ive got a firewall up, will this restrict??..it is open for port 8000 tho' 5. nearly confused...but bere with me! |
sounds like everythings in order :D
sounds all correct 4. Ive got a firewall up, will this restrict??..it is open for port 8000 tho' 4. this shouldn't restict since port 8000 is open :D |
oh, and should the gui and winamp be on or off
|
Unfotunately, it didnt work..can you give me some idea on what the other person should have running on his pc and config etc
|
the gui on the server system should be ON
the winamp dsp isn't required on the system with the server IF the person is connecting to your server remotely via the DSP on his system |
ok, we did that..so what should the hostname and password be on the remote system, as mine is set to local host (the one in winamp), and are there any settings in the gui for the server that need changing for him to be able to access it. I assume its the remote password he needs and my server password? as it kept dropping him altho this is what i gave him...in other words if he starts winamp and configures his dsp, what goes in hostname and what goes in password(although i dont think this will work, as im sure this is what we did)
|
The hostname on the remote system should be yourname.no-ip.com, the password he needs is the server password. You also need to open port 8001 on your firewall as 8000 is for listeners and 8001 is for connecting a source. hope this helps.
