Shoutcast streams not working

I have been using Winamp for years now. I have Ver 3.0. But for some reason when I goto the shout cast web page and click on any listen button for any radio station nothing happens. I'm able, however to type in the URL using Cntl-L and I can get the streaming audio. What is wrong? Thanks, Mike

Edit the file types in Winamp 3 for streams (.pls files) to be played in Winamp.

Wow thanks for the quick responce, but how do you set the file types Winamp. I did goto play/file and changed the file type to .PLS but it keeps going to all file types?

Do you want to use Winamp for everything? You should, as it is the best media player out there. ;)

Just use Winamp for all the file types, it's fine.

Yes I want to use winamp for everything, but I still can't goto shoutcast and click on a listen button. I have to locate the URL and type it in then I can get streaming audio.

What happens when you click on a link? Does anything at all happen?

no, for example if I goto radioparadise.com, click on the MP3126K button nothing happens. It did use to work. But if I goto play/location and type in scastrv2shoutcast.com:8048 it will link up???

Hmm

I did try uninstalling Winamp and reinstalled, even rebuted Windows. Still the same think. I haven't made any changes to my system, unless some sneaky piece of software was installed with out my knowledge.

I have exactly the same problem.I'm running windows XP and I have to type in the URL for the stream to work. The direct links do not work, nothing happens except starting up Winamp if it's off.
Does anyone have any idea's to try?

Thanks

I did forget to mention that I'm running XP as well. It did at one time work. I found if I goto shoutcast, I can copy the listen button and paste it into the play/location. Once it links up I can add it to the play list. A pain in the rear. I would like to understand what happened. I suspect something in the mediaplay took over something. And if it did I want to take that feature back away from the MS player. Thanks
