Problem streaming.

Okay, I just want to stream directly to one of my friends. Maybe even two. Here's my problem..

I can't seem to get the stream out of my router. I can listen on the PC it's hosted on, but I can't get it on any computer outside of this one.

Here's what I've done so far..

Downloaded and installed the server. Downloaded and installed a client. Downloaded and installed Winamp2. Now, I've streamed to my business' radio already, so I know that I can do it.

I set up the sever to run off of port 8000, but it still says it's looking for connects on 8001.

On my client, it's set for localhost, port 8000, and a low quality encoder.

On my router, I've forwarded the ports 8000-8001 (just in case).

Am I missing a port that Shoutcast is using?

Someone help! :[

FesterHead 12th September 2003 17:38

The source connects using portBase+1 and is handled automatically by the Winamp/DSP combo. Use the DNASs portBAse value in the Winamp/DSP combo for port.

Any errors in the DNAS log?

Please post a link to your stream.

That's a good DNAS startup log.

Now you just need to connect your source.

Did you change the DNAS variables srcIP and destIP from ANY?

Is your DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same machine?

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

Naomii 12th September 2003 18:23

' In the DSP? '

Where would that be? The client that runs when you run Winamp 2?

Naomii 12th September 2003 18:42

My screen name is

Naomi Kearnon

If you have AIM, it'd probably be easier to get it working since there isn't a 10 minute pause.

Please help.

FesterHead 12th September 2003 18:43

Heh. You edited your startup log.

Naomii 12th September 2003 18:44

Yes, but before I ever did that, it still didn't work properly. Please IM me..

Even before I put that in, it still was timing out (not showing up) for anyone.

Naomii 12th September 2003 18:48

See? Now that it's up and running with no errors..

I go to my other PC in the next room, and try it a bunch of ways..

http://172.140.15.169:8000

http://172.140.15.169:8000/listen.pls

I tried both in IE -AND- Winamp. It's just plain not working.

jackherer 12th September 2003 19:02

Is this not a local ip address like 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x that isn't used on the net. Post your external ingternet IP

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:03

Yes, this is the IP of the router, not a private IP address.

Do I need to use a different one?

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:07

Okay, I know it works because I can listen to the stream on the same PC that it's being broadcasted from. I need to know if Winamp 2 / Server thing has a port I'm not aware of.

FesterHead 12th September 2003 19:07

172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix) is the private ip address with a 172 prefix.

Please double check your ip.

Does your DNAS log have "yp added me" and "yp touched" messages?

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:08

Yes, constanty.

any ideas?

jackherer 12th September 2003 19:10

What IP do you get when you go to http://www.casterclub.com/ and click get IP/Host info ?

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:11

k

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:14

I went and did that and typed the IP to see what it would do, and it went to my router admin page.

I editted it out.

jackherer 12th September 2003 19:15

http://205.188.234.41:8000/listen.pls should work for your stream then as this is your internet ip, although it doesn't r u definately broadcasting on port 8000 ?

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:17

positive.

localhost
port : 8000

If your getting the above in your log then it should be working OK and your settings are correct, the shoutcast directory can successfully connect

jackherer 12th September 2003 19:21

Right your IP seems to have changed, you are broadcasting OK and i am currently listening to your stream you IP is 68.63.64.8 so use http://68.63.64.8:8000/listen.pls for people to connect. You may want to get a no-ip.com or dyndns.org address so you don't have to keep telling your freinds what your new IP is.

Naomii 12th September 2003 19:29

Yeaaaaah.. Seems to work now.

Thank you so much! ;]

Couldn't have done it without you two.
