Can i create a station if..

Hi, i am new to this... but i am wondering if i am able to host a station from my own computer in realtime, like whenever i want, not a 24/7 type of server thing... I just want to have an hour block of music people can listen to.. dont wanna pay for a monthly service. if so, care to explain how?

SC is absolutly free, w/e you wish to do with the Shoutcast server is up to you, no monthy contracts no nothing! Just install the server and GO! GO! GO!

in realtime
Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'delay', or 'buffer', or 'lag', or 'latency', or 'real time', or....

The answer to all is:
The buffer allows QoS (quality of service) to the listener.
If you want real time, then SHOUTcast is not the solution.
