Volume change when going 2.79->2.91
I searched but couldn't find the answer to this.
I just upgraded from 2.79 to 2.91 full install. I uninstalled 2.79 first. Now the volume is much much lower. I checked all the windows volume controls and they have not changed. To get a volume high enuf to hear I now have to max out the Windows volume bar and max out the Winamp slider bar. Why would upgradeing cause this? How can I fix it? mariner |
Check in Output if you're using DirectSound or WaveOut. You may be using DirectSound, as in that output mode, Winamp's volume is a subset of Windows Wave volume control. In that case, you may want to switch output mode to WaveOut instead, which directly manipulates the Wave volume control.

I checked both plug-ins. I really can't tell for sure which is being used. Vol control is "enabled" in the wavout pane. I tinkered with settings on both plug-ins. Unexpectedly the vol returned to normal. I can now increase the vol as before. I don't know what I did; I reset the settings to where they began. Sometimes just changing and then changeing back can cause things to work. Maybe this is an example of that.
Thanks for pointing me to those 2 plug-ins. mariner |
