no sound after installing w2k sp4

after installing sp4 on my windows 2000 winamp doesn't work anymore
can anyone help me, please

Can you please provide more information than "doesn't work"....

Does Winamp appear on the screen, and if it does, does the counter increment and the scroller move as if it is playing?

Does this occur with more than one file type?

Do your files play in in other players (e.g. Windows Media Player), or is the sound completely gone in your computer?

Are you getting error messages, and if so, what are they.

In addition, the relevant system specs would be useful (CPU speed, RAM, sound and video card, DirectX version, etc....)

today he tells me that after restarting the computer 3 times winamp works...nice

Sounds like it was a driver issue. Anyhow, glad to see you have it working again.

another problem:
another friend has a brand new computer with winamp 2.91 installed on - when he tries to play audio-cds winamp skips...
as plugin i have installed the input-plugin cd reader
i can fix the skips by setting the buffer size in cd reader from 24 to 1 sector
is this good or is there another way for correct playback
