Problems with Winamp2 and 5.1 system

I've always used winamp, and recently I bought a 5.1 system and I cannot listen to the central and back speakers when using winamp 2.
If I use winamp 3 I hear all the speakers, but I don't like not having the J as "jump to file", so I prefer Winamp 2. Is there a Plugin or something to make it work in 5.1 with all the speakers?
Thanks:

Lucky.

...still don't work for me...

So, here im. A SBLive5.1 user, using Win2k SP and WinAPM 2.80 (never talk about v3 for me, really, be warned!) happy user, updated to nice wood 5.1 speakerset and noticing, that center is silent very badly.

Subwoofer can be made active by settings Bass redirection into speaker settings, but that it is. All.

I even updated to the v2.91 (sigh), selected the DirectSound output, checked the Utilize HW acceleration and tried next song, WinAMP restart and so on, so for... and nothing.

A little help come handy, really.

Certified: yes, emulated: no
Supports sample rates from 4000 Hz to 191999 Hz (continuous)
Hardware memory: N/A
Hardware mixing: supported, 30 free streams (32 max)
Speaker setup: 5.1

...this should convice everyone, that i have set the speakers right (hell yes, they worked perfectly into other programs, except BSplayer - also silent center...) ...

...well, i have latest soundblaster drivers. v5.12.2.252

Can anyone help me? Please? :(

I have the exact same problem as trodas..I got SBLive 5.1, windows XP, and 5.1-speakers. In creative's "speaker test", all speakers (including center) are working, but in winamp (and all other software as well, it seems) the center is completely silent. I've updated more drivers than I can remember, turned up the volume on the center speaker to max (duh!), checked, double-checked and triple-checked that all settings are correct, changed to DirectSound output, checked "allow hardware acceleration" (in directsound), changed back to waveout, tried many other output plugins, updated directx, flashed bios, emailed support, and STILL not a sound from the center speaker. I even got so desperate trying to get it to work, that I briefly installed winamp 3 (that supposedly supports 5.1-speakers originally), only to find out that the center was still completely dead
Since the speaker is working, there has to be some software issue, but what? Anybody got an idea? Paying for six speakers and getting five is not very cool :hang:

EDIT: Oh, and I've tried checking for those .dll's in the plugin folder, they weren't there..I've tried disabling one with a very similrar name, didn't help either :(

YES! I finally found a solution :D
For any of you with Creative soundcards, if all speakers work for in AudioHQ -> Speaker -> Test, but the speaker is silent anywhere else, the solution is most likely this:
Open Creative PlayCenter -> Open Tray Window -> CMSS -> On
Now you can close that horrible media player and use anything you like, my center speaker is working beautifully in Winamp 2, divx player, windows media player and all games now! :D :D :D

And if your subwoofer isn't working, this is fixed by opening AudioHQ -> Speaker -> Settings -> Check "Bass Redirection" ;)

I really can't see the point in playing mp3's(or 99% of other formats) in 5.1.
It defeats the purpose of having a stereo file format(2.0) in the first place. 2.1(over 4 speakers)is logical i suppose as you can still have 2 channels.

5.1 is ONLY meant for DVD's or specially formatted DVD-A, SACD or 5.1 type files.(like ogg in 5.1 or ac3)

The only good thing that the center channel could possibly do to a 2 channel file format is make the sound louder.
