Those long-lost tracks you love but can't obtain.

Everyone has a few beloved songs they've lost and can't find again. I have 2 that spring to mind:

The Alarm - Firing Line
The Wedding Present - Dalliance

Maybe one day they'll come on home. Until then. *sigh*:(
It's a real feeling of bereavement.

ShyShy 24th September 2003 01:56

I'm really missing the copy of Conan The Barbarian movie soundtrack. It had an awesome score. But someone spilled gatorade all over the cassette at a track meet and I haven't been able to track a copy of it down ever since.

zootm 24th September 2003 08:49

earthtone9 - enertia 65800
...springs to mind...

Triton4 26th September 2003 16:33

Frankie goes to Hollywood - Lunar Bay

Well, FGTH audio casettes/CDs are not available in India now (FGTH is banned here for some reason); nor can I download the mp3 easily from WinMX - it's an extremely rare track, but awesome too.

mwisby 26th September 2003 18:47

I played Lunar Bay on my station a few times, but have recently lost that mp3... crazy!!

FGTH are banned in India??? WTF? And I thought India was a liberal country.

Triton4 27th September 2003 06:12

Cylob, it's probably got to do with the lyrics of 'Relax' or something like that... I don't think it's being sold in Asia itself, for that matter.

Xerxes 27th September 2003 08:15

Are Piano Key Neckties also banned in India?

Triton4 27th September 2003 11:14

LMAO! I don't see a reason why they should be banned here.

Cylob 29th September 2003 08:23

Thank god I'm living in a liberal democracy. I don't know how I'd cope without my regular fix of FGTH/Relax. What's the penalty for listening to it in India then? Is it like Nazi Germany where you had to listen to foreign radio under a blanket??

Triton4 29th September 2003 14:39

There's no penalty here at all; India is a liberal democracy too. It's only the legal sales or broadcasting of FGTH's music which is not permitted. But if you do happen to get their mp3s or CDs, you can play them anywhere you like, and as you wish - no one's gonna stop you from doing that.

Cylob 29th September 2003 14:43

I was only joking Triton4.:) Keep Relax on the playlist. I notice you like Paul Young as well - another 80's great.

Triton4 29th September 2003 14:56

It's alright, Cylob :)

I don't have that many New Wave bands on my playlist, like I had a few months back... I'm slowly drifting into more modern music now (getting out of the stronghold of 80s music ;) ).

Cylob 30th September 2003 14:57

Well you couldn't listen to New Wave all the time, you'd have to be pretty screwed-up. About 1 in 10 of my tracks are New Wave, which ain't bad. I'm after a Toni Halliday album from '88, but I'm not holding my breath.

Triton4 30th September 2003 15:13

Believe me Cylob, I was totally addicted to New Wave (especially FGTH); back in August, I had about 12 out of 15 New Wave tracks on my MuVo! It's all evened out a bit now; and currently I'm on the lookout for New Age bands.

dylman 30th September 2003 22:06

I would sell someone's soul for a copy of the Chemical Brothers remix of One To Another by the Charlatans. It's on an NME cover tape I think, but that's all I know.

NJK 30th September 2003 22:14

a cd of the album "warp" by new music

the first two album were released on cd "from a to b" and "anywhere" but strangly they never released warp on a cd

Rovastar 1st October 2003 12:48

When you peopel say cannot find again are you taking for real in shops vinyl/CD/etc or in any electronic form.

IN electronic form I within a few minutes found copies of your stuff Cylob.

NJK 1st October 2003 13:04

most music can be found on the internet alright - the cd version of the warp album by new music has never been released by the record compagny - so we talk about music that is hard to get

Rovastar 1st October 2003 14:12

Sorry I must be too old school thinking people might actually want to colllect/buy stuff. :);)

SO we mean ANY copy.

SO spaceplayradio you would be happy with an promo/acetate/TP mp3 rip of that album as long as you have it.

I easily found:
The Alarm - Firing Line
The Wedding Present - Dalliance
Conan The Barbarian soundtrack (is that the single CD or 2 CD set)
earthtone9 - enertia 65800

dylman's Chemical brothers (or could it be them called teh dust brothers back then *shrug*) remix I cannot find although plenty of other Charlatans tracks remixed by them.

or your stuff spaceplayradio. But I am no expert and only look for a few minutes.

DJ Egg 1st October 2003 14:26

See if you can find this one for me . . .

TransGlobal Underground Remix of:
Dodgy - The Elephant (The Balaphon-A-Bing Bong Immigrant mix)

Track 4 on the "So Let Me Go Far" CD Single (A&M Records 1994)

Tracks 1-3 are crappy, but the TGU Rmx of the Elephant is one of my all-time faves. Problem is, it's been all around the world with me, and I played it sooooo much in my sets back then, that it's now totally buggered and won't play in any CD Player/Rom. :(

NJK 1st October 2003 14:27

thanks for the search Rovastar - been searching for that album on cd for over 4 years now - a mp3 copy is already in my cd collection but however it's missing all the information that original cd's have - i also own the original album on vinyl but my record player has been disconnected for over a decade already( i don't even know for sure if i still have it- moved to other houses for 5 times in 6 years so much of our stuff is still unpacked in the boxes we put them in)

Wot???? Where Rovastar?? I would pay handsomely to bring The Alarm/Firing Line back home to my ears. I've searched (electronically) since March, to no avail. I got half the track once from AGS, but a .tmp file ain't much cop.

I have the CD single. Do you want it??

Rovastar 1st October 2003 14:49

Hold on I am no genius here. I am just using my normal p2p program and searching and/or adding to wishlist:)

I am queuing that file for you Cylob. :)

Although it is The Alarm - Firing Line (Demo)

is all at the moment but 2 people have it. :)

It seems to be on a b-sides and demos 18 track (album) *shrug*

Anyway before I say more I ma going to start another thread about what P2P s/w you use?

Cylob 1st October 2003 14:51

Smart. I'm probably just using the wrong package.

NJK 1st October 2003 14:59

it all depends on the point of entry with p2p (supernodes) change them and your searchresults could improve btw cylob i voted for you in the poll that is on now

Triton4 1st October 2003 15:03

I voted for Cylob too.

Cylob 1st October 2003 17:45

Thanks guys.;) I rarely post in GD, and only a GD regular can ever win. But it's a noble idea by the mods all the same.

Triton4 1st October 2003 18:45

Hey Cylob, don't lose hope - you have a very good chance of winning the poll. It's not the popularity of a member that we consider while voting, rather his contribution and effort towards the WA forums over a period of time.

Cylob 1st October 2003 19:26

Installing Soulseek.:) I hope to have those long-lost tracks by the weekend (with any luck).

Wowzas! :)
It's just that 1 track I'm after. This would make me one very happy dude!
Umm . . . maybe we should we take this to PM?

btw Cylob, what do you think of that track. Pretty cool, yes !?

Cylob 2nd October 2003 07:36

;) If it wasn't for "The Elephant" I would've flogged the single years ago. There ain't much else on it.

"Oh I, I spend my time on the firing line.........".:)
