Winamp3 Trouble-Shooter Guide > Winamp3 FAQ

Why won't my video play?
Winamp3 uses Direct Show to play back video files. This is the same way Windows Media Players and most others play video files. Check to see if the file can play in WMP. If the video plays in neither you can check to see what format the video is and if it is corrupt using GSpot. You may need to download the proper Direct Show Filters to enable playback.

Where can I get the right DirectShow filters?
Most MPEG based formats (DivX, Xvid, WP41, MP42, etc...) can be decoded using ffdshow. Or there are the official DivX and XviD packages. Other codec downloads can be found on sites like MovieCodec.com and doom9.org.

I also just answered your "unanswered" post in this thread...

I know this is several days after the last post (Oct. 3rd), but wanted to offer a suggestion.

Winamp3 > Ctrl+P (for preferences) > Video > uncheck (or checkmark) 'Allow video overlay' > close out of prefs.

I keep that option unchecked.
