Sox beat Yankees and Cubs pound Marlins!!!

What a great day in baseball. the boston and chicago both won. C'mon everyone. . .Cubs, Red Sox world series!

deathazre 9th October 2003 20:02

go cubs

Bilbo Baggins 9th October 2003 20:03

Hurrah.

Sah'Rah! 9th October 2003 20:08

Woo-Hoo!!!!!!!! :D

jjpotter 9th October 2003 23:32

Soy de Illinois, y creo que fue una dia muy fantastico! But seriously, I live just a few hours south of Chicago and everyone here is going apesh*t. Cubs rule:D

Fickle 10th October 2003 00:04

hmm. Is it right to w00t?

I lost interest in baseball roughly 45 seconds after emerging from the womb. Am I really the only one who hates his own national pastime?

ShyShy 10th October 2003 00:50

Yes, Fickle, you are:p But, OMG!!!!!! Go RedSox!!!!! I sooo want to win that $50 from the ex. Evil Yankee-lovin' bastard:D I'm a Mariners' fan btw :(

ElChevelle 10th October 2003 01:17

I'd love nothing better than to see the Sox and the Cubbies go to the big series. Last night, I was in baseball heaven, or at least as much of a heaven as there is for a baseball non-fan.
3-1 Yankees right now though:down:Game two

k_rock923 10th October 2003 01:31

c'mon red sox get it together here. they've already left around 5 people on base. not cool

ElChevelle 10th October 2003 01:53

Pitching's gonna kill them!
Last thing I want to see except my ex-wife's face is the Yonkees back in it.

ctkatz8086 10th October 2003 03:17

spankees win :(

oh yeah,
GO CUBS!!!

interesting statistic: 16,290.

that's the average attendance of the florida marlins, ahead of only the expos and the devil rays. THE DETROIT TIGERS HAD MORE FANS COME OUT ON AVERAGE THAN THE MARLINS. 16,290 is about 5000+ less than the cubs worst attended game of the year, a very cold day against the expos. the cubs averaged more than twice that per home game in a smaller ballpark. and yet the marlins will have nearly 69,000 people at joe robbie (most of them non-cubs people. tix are available to south florida residents only) and people call cub fans "fairweather". what are the marlin fans then, CHAMBER-OF-COMMERCEWEATHER fans?

hypocrites

Cubs-Red Sox...please let it happen. I mean, if they both get to the series, one of them has to win, right?

ElChevelle 10th October 2003 12:33

But who?
I'm going to have a tough time picking between the two.

k_rock923 10th October 2003 18:57

nobody can win. they're not allowed to. Bud Selig will announce after game 7 that the series is a tie.

whatboy 10th October 2003 20:09

am sorry but am cheering for the marlins. We can have another 1997 world series championship :D. Remember people boston can never win a world series ever heard of the banbino curse

ElChevelle 10th October 2003 21:26

At least the Marlins didn't spend spend spend to buy the champeenship, THEN TURN AROUND AND CUT THEM ALL DURING THE OFFSEASON!

Not only do the Marlins fans number in the low 3 digits, the owner hates them too!

whatboy 10th October 2003 21:30

now is that you know we dont go to marlins games gees man your a little late on that one. But everybody likes a winner.

ElChevelle 10th October 2003 22:26

Can you translate that one for me?
Was that "Now you know we don't go to Marlins games. Geez man, you're a little late on that one." ?

k_rock923 10th October 2003 22:31

bah. pudge is carrying the team. without him they're nothing. and they had al leiter. hes a met now. not likes its doing them any good. if i remember, piazza was there for like a day. bad bad ideas. if they win this year, they'll do the same as last time.

P.S. pudge is cool

whatboy 10th October 2003 22:31

sorry I was in a hurry. tanslation: Now is that you know we dont go to no marlins game

ElChevelle 11th October 2003 00:07

Props to 20,000 Cubs fans for making the trip to South Florida to help fill the stadium tonight:p

Xerxes 11th October 2003 00:18

Keeping with hallowed tradition, This being a sports thread, I will now bash the collection of useless "activities" collectively known as sports.

The team of black people that live in your area put the ball in the end area more times than the team of black people lving in my area! Yay! Woohoo! What fun! How important! How worth paying 50 dollars to see!

Or in the case of baseball, please replace 'black people' with 'white people with different arrangements of facial hair'.

Sports...............suck!

Pudge Rocks! Man, Texas ubbered big time by letting him go. Best damn catcher around. Very few players attempt the steal against him:D

ElChevelle 11th October 2003 02:32

Band Wagon

whatboy 11th October 2003 02:34

occurs am not saying other wise. You have to take advantage of big series stuff here in miami. Dan marino never took us to the super bowl

ElChevelle 11th October 2003 02:43

Yeah, we waited for years for Elway to go all the way.
When he finally did two years in a row, he retired.

Starving--->fed--->spoiled--->starving again:(

whatboy 11th October 2003 02:50

errrrr stupid home run drove 2 hits for the cubs no no thats not what I want

Actually, he did. Dolphins vs. 49ers, early in his career. 49ers won with Joe Montana.

And of course there are baseball fans in Florida...all the old people who moved down there from up north. :p

whatboy 11th October 2003 03:08

cant forget that season with the dolphins where they never lost a game not even the super bowl :D

J. Burnaway 11th October 2003 03:11

That was 30 years ago...do you remember that firsthand, or did you read it in the Miami history books?

whatboy 11th October 2003 03:52

it was 30 years ago but what other team can say they had that record.

J. Burnaway 11th October 2003 03:54

None since the Super Bowl started - not my point really. Were you around to see it happen?

whatboy 11th October 2003 03:57

no occurs not but its part of miami dolphin history.

k_rock923 11th October 2003 13:37

yea Cubs win!!!! Today's yankee game will be awesome with Pedro and Clemens going at it

ShyShy 11th October 2003 13:56

Pedro and Clemens? Damn, I'll end up missing this one.

k_rock923 11th October 2003 23:59

Yanks win :( I really hate seeing what happened in the game today. Clemens was pitching inside and he almost hit someone. then the umpire warned both sides. This would take away Clemens' ability to pitch inside as if he hit someone he would be ejected. He almost hit someone, both benched emptied, and Pedro threw Don Zimmer to the ground. I can't believe it. that's terrible. Not only that, but now the yanks have something to rally around so they'll probbaly win the series.

Pedro was the one who threw behind Karim Garcia's head to incite the whole thing.
