Not to be a pain or anything, but could someone please post their studio.xnf as an attachment? I'd really like to get this window position bug/problem figured out, since no one else seems to be having it.

Here ya go.

Here's mine.
But note, I've got a fair few freeform skins installed.

Good luck.

btw, have you checked the actual Winamp dir for read/write permissions?

[edit] doh! too slow again, lol [/edit]

dougieha 17th October 2003 14:45

Thanks...I thought perhaps something wasn't getting saved right, but after comparing my studio.xnf to yours, I don't see any differences. Now I'm really stumped. Yeah...everything is read/write open (not read-only).

Devs?

good god... i was hoping to mess around a little bit more with winamp's media library today, but when i tried out itunes yesterday, it RUINED my file sorting system..

dougieha 17th October 2003 15:00

Hehe...I'm "Doug Halamay" from that thread.

I know what you mean...fortunately, I started screwing around with Microsoft Backup the other day and made a backup of my MP3 folder.

wakingrufus 17th October 2003 15:03

ok earlier i sadi you should get smart playlist, but i realize now that thats the samething as making a custom media view. nice

one minor thing is when i am scrolling in the library, and get to the end, it starts moving my volume

logoguy 17th October 2003 15:06

Could someone possibly explain the diff. between "modern" and "freeform" skins i am kinda lost. I tried to load the winamp5 "modern" skin into winamp3 and it dod not work. I looked at the coding and it seems to be the same. Not to jump to any conclusions but is this "modern" method going to replace the skins i use on winamp3?
I plan on staying with winamp 3 and i suspect that maybe some cool skins will be released for winamp5 just want to know if i will be able to give some of them a try. I mean i really like the new look and the functionality of the new skin it would be kinda cool with multipl playlists. =D

will 17th October 2003 15:08

modern==freeform==wa3 skin

Not exactly, but all winamp3 skins should work with winamp 5.
The modern skin should (as in might, i don't know) work with the next forthcoming build of winamp3. (if its even worth using with winamp 5 nearly ready)

logoguy 17th October 2003 15:10

I kinda figured it was just a simple feature thing like 5 has something that winamp3 dont have quite yet. Thanks i just didnt want to be wrong when i told someone that there is a new skin type out there.

mrharhar 17th October 2003 15:23

I wont be the first to say this. Nor the last, but anyway;

I like it.

I downloaded the beta and gave it a spin. It seems that the playlist is having trouble displaying ogg tags with non-english characters. When it loads
the playlist there's no problem, but when the song is being played the text on the playlist (for that song) will become gibberish. Winamp2 doesn't seem
to have this problem.

Except the playlist problem, overall
this beta is pretty good.

Btw, the MMD3 theme has a integrated
small playlist which is very cool, but
it doesn't support international characters, is this the theme's problem or winamp's?

mark 17th October 2003 15:58

and still no toast making support! :p

liquidmotion 17th October 2003 16:17

who cares about maknig toast?

But Winamp3 can make toast....;)

:(, sadly there will be no toast for Winamp5 until I get a script manager!
[jk]
Spoiler: DO YOU HEAR ME FRANCIS! NO TOAST FOR WINAMP5 WITHOUT A SCRIPT MANAGER! NO TOAST!......NO TOAST!.....NO TOAST![/jk]

WildcardZ 17th October 2003 16:28

Thanks for the multiple playlisting thing, works great. Didn't notice it :)

nothin2g 17th October 2003 17:10

personally i don't like the modern skin. i think it's too big and the menu items next to the titlebar makes it look like cheap custom gui like real player uses it. i'll stick with wa3 default skin :)
but... great work guys! :)
noth -waiting for #500- in2g

s1138 17th October 2003 17:22

you can turn off the menus at the top.....

OSUDragon 17th October 2003 17:24

Will the final version of Winamp 5 support higher resolution icons for file types? I kinda liked the smooth look of the icons in Winamp3.

nothin2g 17th October 2003 17:26

oh yeah, i see it *G* thanks for the hint :P

Any plans to make the media library remember it's last state?

It never remembers what songs or albums or whatever was selected.

think of the bad side, lets say it did remember, it will be a pain going through the directories to find another song... and so on..

so its better to start in a fixed place, tho should be configured

I agree, could be an option.

EDIT: On second thought, are we talking about the same thing? I mean the winamp media library where you have all your songs categorized, is this what you mean? because it's not that hard to go through your songs that way.

Alex

Krynis 17th October 2003 18:27

heh wa5 and the modern skin take exactly 0% resources to run on my rig lol

kingo'mountain 17th October 2003 18:48

sorry alex, i misunderstood, although navigating the media library is better when it uses a default "view" of the library

like a tree, its always better to climb from the root, instead of jumping blindly fromm branch (in this case, category) to branch.

i meant the "open file" window, where you have to go to the direcotry where your specific song is. outdated methhod for those with 1000's of songs/playlists :igor:

SarCaSM 17th October 2003 19:02

A new release of FireBird, a new release of ThunderBird, and now a beta of Winamp5! Can the geek life get any better than this? I don't think so.

Runs very nicely, the modern skin is something to get used to, but luckily the classic is still around. woo. The thing frickin runs great as it is now, just imagine what the final will be like.

monkey_22 17th October 2003 19:22

I keep trying but the media library for some reason won't open......

Krynis 17th October 2003 19:41

im having a entertaining issue when i change from a loaded wa2 skin to a wa3 skin often nothing but the PL shows up and if i close the pl the other windows open normaly but a ghost pl appears thats a solid color with no gfx :S

Germ 17th October 2003 19:46

Yeah it's a beta, little bugs are still being worked out. Most bugs are already known and are just being knocked out one by one.

papadoc 17th October 2003 19:48

Music CD's are bringing WMP9 up instead of Winamp now.
This never happened with previous versions.
What's up?

zootm 17th October 2003 19:57

always on top mode seemingly randomly unsets itself. anyone got any idea?

fwgx 17th October 2003 20:01

NEVER use anything but winamp. EVAR!

code65536 17th October 2003 20:03

Video Resizing Bug?

I think this is a bug...

I run Winamp with the auto resize video window option turned on...

In Winamp 2.91/2.95, if I load a video file during the playback of another video file, the video window will automatically resize to the resolution of the new video.

In Winamp 5, if I load a video during the playback of another, the window does NOT resize, and the new video is played with the old window size. (However, if I close the window before loading the new file, the window correctly resizes.) I've tried toggling the auto resize option on and off, and it didn't help.

Er, that's why I never trust Apple. I feel symphaty for you. I'm almost kinda glad now that iTunes doesn't work on my ver. of Windows.

BTW, really lovin' Winamp 5, even if it is a beta (much faster and more stable than WA 2.91!). The only thing I cannot figure out how to do is Ripping CDs. Where's the Rip/Record/Whatever button???

go to the library (alt+L) and click on your CD-ROM drive in the left hand column. "rip" is at the bottom of the main window. :)

What happened to the "Associate with CD's" checkbox,
