Bands that sounded better live
Yes...The vice-versa of spaceplayradio's topic on bands that sucked live; Which bands have you seen live, and sounded better live?
I havn't gone to many concerts, but last month, local rock radio station 105.1 WLRS held the annual LRS Fest, which was an outdoor concert here in Louisville, featuring quite a few performances from rock bands...Some of them were lame no-namers, and there were also some good no-namers... :p But the last two performances for the night were of two big-name bands: Trapt followed by Suicidal Tendencies...Because I had work the following day, I couldn't stay for Suicidal Tendencies... :( But lemme tell you this about Trapt (Which I did see before I busted): Before then, I absolutly did NOT like Trapt. Alot of rock fans will know them for their "Headstrong" single. Just another catchy rock tune everyone liked, but because radio stations played the hell out of the song and the song was nothing ground-breaking, it just annoyed me. I felt like going around and dissing Trapt during their performance that night. But so I stood there and desided to watch anyway, and boy was I wrong... I actually found them damn good... :D But that's probably because I got the joy of seeing them play live right in front of me, and they played about 6 or 7 songs off their album...When they closed out with the obvious "Headstrong", the mosh pits were on fire, I was hyped; I don't think I ever enjoyed the song at all like this before... :D I'd like to see them live once more some time...But even after seeing them live and warming up to them a bit, I still think their non-live stuff sucks... :p So...What about you? :) |
Sucks you missed Suicidal Tendencies.
|
massive attack. I liked them abit.. but not heaps.. so i go sees them..
O.O still in recovery |
no problem shenlong if i post a singer first?
ERIC CLAPTON - sounds live much better than on any album he made ALAN PARSONS PROJECT - seen them twice and it's pretty good AL STEWART- just him without a band, you simply don't believe your ears. |
The Tea Party. Thier music has an enormous amount of energy when they play live. Gives me shivers up my spine thinking about it (good ones).
|
white stripes.. good studio
fuking-A live |
Johnny Marr and the Healers
Page and Plant 808 State |
page and plant.. word
not that ive seen them.. only got that bootleg from the last reunion.. the one where kashmir was better than the orig. |
I've been caught in the trap many a time. I see a band play brilliantly on live TV (promoting a new album). I rush out and buy said album, it turns out to be total rubbish. Ruined by studio production (at great cost).
I flogged the Plant/Page album the same week. Yaaaaaggghhhh!!!!! *scratching desk*. |
All the boybands look so lively in the live-concerts.The way they sing, the way they dance or even the way they tease.........
Just imagine, those boys from heaven are infront of your eyes! Man!Live concert is the palce where dreams come true. |

(Bootleg? I've got the official 'No Quarter'-album) Other bands that sound better live... Cream & Toto |

My 18 years old Daughter used to be a BSB fan but after seeing a concert she didn't like them anymore. she said to me " they were dancing with the mics miles away from their mouths but you could still hear them singing" . apola this isn't personal-just refecting an opion of a girl who was at that time 12/13 years old |
With boy bands, it's 100% hysteria. The fans are happy just to see the faces. After all, there's nothing else to look at (no instruments or anything like that).
|
Very funny!I didn't expect anything else.........Just make a survey.....Most of the live concerts are arranged for boy-bands.People go there & go there regularly.........if its fake then they wouldn't be there.
After all, the whole music industry depends on boy-bands! |

ever noticed that all songs are exactly the same as on the cd's or are faded out???? I'm a big Neil Young fan and have 6 different takes of the song "like a Hurricane" played live - not one of those is an exact copy of the other they al sound different. if you see a boy band like westlife the songs sound exactly the same if the play them in America, Europe or Asia Such perfection is not possible! |

but in 10 years from now everybody will still remember names like led zeppelin, cream, beatles, rolling stones, eric clapton, neil young, the band, bob dylan, jimmy hendrix, steve miller band, dire straits, the police, my point --- it's just something that isn't here to stay. |

Nightmare scenario - the boy band genre lasts for 30 years. I can see the mainstream remaining as-is for at least another 10 years. There aren't any 'waves' or 'invasions' of the indie bands any more. Why? Because people like me are sat here stoking-up download queues. I don't care anyway, I turned my back on the mainstream 10 years ago. The charts don't exist, boy bands don't exist. |
You are wrong,Boy-bands will exist..........may be not the same ones but will exist.May be some new faces but still it is the boy-bands who will rule the music world.Just guess without boy-bands what would happen to the music industry?
& finally breaking up doesn't means end...........the song still reamains to compit with any other genere.......Thus the boy-bands remains evergreen. |

at the moment the nr 1 in the charts is a song i like- it's a new release of an old song by Nena's irgendwo, irendwen, irgendwie. She asked Kim Wilde to sing it again and now it's anyplace, anywhere, anytime ( part english sung, part german) should go nicely in the 80's retro that,s going on at the moment. don't see an boy-band retro turning up in 20 years from now |
my dear apola.
Neil young made his first solo album in 1969 (34 years ago) do you think that lets say westlife or whatever boyband you like will make records in 34 years from now???????? most of the boybands are either split up or ended their short career. and you know the line - out of sight out of hart i'm glad that you enjoy your music but be honest it's just something that's gonna be gone in a few years from now. If it was here to stay you never needed to post your thread "defending boy-bands" You don't see me or cylob defending artist. do you? there's more out there than boy bands |
boy bands and in fact most commercial music are signed to 6 month contracts these days... So if you are still hearing about them a year after the first single, they must be doing REALLY FUCKING WELL!
As for boy bands continuing, its incredibly unlikely. Boy-bands and all pop music are strictly brought out in response to trends in the market. So, now that boy bands have all but died out, it is unlikely that you wll see new ones for many many years.. Then one day, boy-bands will be "retro" and well see them again... but after that, NON!! whooopeeee! |
Doing well? It's called "luck", and it also works with any suck-ass band these days, whether you're making pop or rock music...
|
well thats true maybe for rock bands..
Its all depends on who notices you and whether you fit into this weeks "thing". But pop bands, nothing to do with luck. If you had enough money, and no song at all, im sure you could get to #1. |
Hey!Don't get me wrong..........I am not talking 'bout any particuler boyband cause unfortunately its true that they will break up.Its sorta universal truth. All I am telling is boy-bands are on top forever.Right now there are some boybands ruling over the music industry,30 years from now there will be boy-bands again to rule over the industry.
So don't underastimate boy-bands! And they don't sing songs in concerts................lol.I wonder will you say now that its not exactly them who sing the songs? |
It's easy to rule the industry if you're a corporate tool with absolutely no quarrels with selling out artistic and musical integrity.
|
Do you want me to let you know just WHY boy bands are on top of the market?
hint: Its not because they have the biggest fan base, or because they have the most talent. |
Tell me one thing, which one comes first?Fans or music industry?(Hen or egg?)............it doesn't matter. All that matter is both of them(fan & music industry)depends on boy-bands.

Yes, the perpetuation of giant music companies hoarding loads of cash from "fans" is dependent on cookie-cutter boy band corporate tools because they're willing to exchange music quality and integrity for their own indidual financial success.
Yet the truly great bands were far from the mainstream. |
I am extremely sorry Shenlong............I really didn't mean to spoil ur topic.Hey guys.......no more debate ok.May be i'll post another topic 'bout the boy bands or someone from you post one..........but not here anymore
Sorry again Shenlong |
back to the topic
Joe jackson sounds live much better than on recordings ( seen two concerts of the guy) |
edit..deleted..
sorry.. tyhat was me complaining more about boy bands... ON WITH THE SHOW. |
new fast automatic daffodils were much better live - they were superb - cd was poor in comparison..
Blur - The Great Escape tracks were far far better live, instead of being recorded on like 150 tracks.. |
It's a shame about the New Fads orac, it'd be virtually impossible to get a bootleg.:( But Pigeonhole was still a good album, it wasn't overproduced or anything (just not live, that's all).
|
they had some eps as well - i remember one single that was good - all over my face, I think.. after pigeonhole
|
I've been looking out for it (and their follow-up album). The one user on the planet who has it doesn't come on line often.
|
I always thought that Nine Inch Nails sounded better live than on the albums. They always turned the guitars way up and played harder. The albums seem tame compared to the live shows. Im a really big fan of all their albums, but once I saw their "And All That Could Have Been Live" DVD I just freaked. It was so awesome.

As far as the albums..I really only liked the fragile.. the others were all a tad to hardcore for me. |
