Total Palette Control

Does anyone know of a handy litle utility for manipulating the palette of an image. Kind of like in D-paint or Ani Pro but are no soooo old school no longer work on win2000/XP. I looked but to no avail...

Must have:

Select groups of colours

change selection of colour or whole palette by lumo/colour/hue etc.

remap image to colours in palete order/best fit

cheers

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
PaintShop Pro by Jasc Software
Adobe Photostop

GIMP's free, PSP costs about $99 (iirc), and Photoshop is about $500USD (approx.)

Pshop and PSP aren't flexibile enough on this issue for what I am wanting to do. AFAIAA Photoshop allows you to crudely mess about with the palette, but not make selections of colours and then move them about within the order of the palette. And in PSP you can change colours (one by one) and view the palette in three different orders.

Will have to check out GIMP

Is the image you've got a paletted image? Cause a full true color image is gonna likely have 50,000+ colors in it.

It's an image with a palette of about 16 or 32 colours.
