Possible legal downloading?
If you buy BMI and ASCAP licenses, could you legally download music for free, since technically you own a license to it?

I run a bar as well as a restaurant and I just wish BMI would quit hounding us to get a license:rolleyes:
Even if I were to play my acid mixes 24/7 they say I still need one. |
If you mix it yourself and don't use any copyrighted material, you shouldn't have to get a license.
Since you've dealt with BMI, Chev, you might know the answer to this question: Is there a license for mobile DJs? I can't find one on their web site. |
chev, you need to stop with the acid. you're already crazy enough.

:p
No idea Mike....I get letter after letter, phone after phone.....they want more for a license than I pay for CDs. I'll ask next time I get nagged. |
well in my case, that license fee will be somewhere around $0.00001 :D

In our state (ND) if you DJ in a club that has a juke box, the jukebox license covers you while you work there. If there is no jukebox the DJ is supposed to have his own license. But I haven’t heard of anyone getting in trouble for not having one, nor can I help with where you could acquire one. I found out there was an overabundance of DJ’s in our town before I got the far with the idea.
