Learning to Fly
 

One of my lifelong dreams that I haven't yet gotten around to is obtaining my private pilots license. I've long been a fan of aviation and with today's retiring of the Concorde, it really hits home.
My biggest dream? To fly with the Blue Angels! but at supersonic speed.

Chev: Can't we go faster?
Pilot: I can't exceed mach 1 over populated areas.
Chev: Can't you at least try to make me puke?

They sell rides on jet aircraft.
Just pass a physical and pay a few grand
And off you go :D

the secret to flying isn't really a secret. It's more of a knack. you have to be able to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

Saw this at an airshow a few years ago. That'd be awesome to play around in. :)

That's a variation on the BeeDee5 which was featured in one of the lame Roger Moore Bond movies.
That would be a kick to fly!

The easiest way to do that is to fall, and then get distracted on your way down. This will cause gravity to forget about you, and as long as you don't think "I can't be flying," you should be able to push yourself away from the ground and go airborne.

I cant remember how the rest of that goes off-hand and I cant find my copy of the guide :hang:

the remote control airplane i accidently crashed into a blimp wall needs to re-learn to fly :) IT WAS AN ACCIDENT...... i turned the wrong way....

What would you say if you were offered a chance to fly one of these?

The lines on the wings of that SR-71 are lines of fuel. The plane continually leaks fuel until it reaches its operating speed... by that time, the outer skin of the jet heats up and expands to seal off the fuel cells.

what exactly is the point of that?

Btw, check out this F-14. Now THAT'S just fucking cool.

The SR-71's outer fuselage acts as part of each of the plane's fuel cells. Since the fuel is an extremely low volitility liquid, it also doubles as the jet's coolant. The outer skin of the jet reaches temperatures over 400 degrees when it passes mach 3, hence the need for such a low volitility fuel.

shure i would fly one of those but just give me about 100 pounds of armor :)
