Do you believe in taking prescription medicines for little aches and pains, or, rather, how do you feel about the idea that modern society overmedicates itself?

I usually wait until the ache/pain is pretty unbearable before I'll take anything.

Except when it's everyone's fave time of the month. It's for everyone's safety in a five mile radius, that I medicate myself :D

I've been in near constant pain for years with my head, you get used to it if you dont take meds. I only take them if it gets realy bad.

Every now and then I'll take some Tylenol if I get a headache, but that's not often.


Oh, and Afrin nose spray is like liquid crack. :D

Used to take ****** until I discovered it was my ex-girlfriend who was stressing me out.

I'm supposed to be taking ******* (antidepressant, similar to *****) but I don't. It seems to not make a difference anyways.

That which is made by man cannot be good.
Opium, marijuanna, shrooms, and payote do not fall into this category.
Alcohol is made by natures goodness and distilled by man so it is only a lesser evil.
As far as LEGAL drugs go, I try to avoid them.

i almost never take anything for pain. maybe thats not such a good idea

Little aches and pains no. Usually a period of hibernation from whatever caused them is sufficient remedy.

i dont like taking meds..
if i have a severe headache, ill take some tylenol or excedrin. but by then, i can barely keep my eyes open, and it feels like being stabbed in the head with a spike.

and yes, i do think society is overmedicated...

I can stop the pain if I will it all away! :D

I take a lot of herbal remedies, they work better than most people think.

I would not take prescriptions for little stuff. I take ibuprofen for headaches, Aleve for body aches, and Claritin for allergies. I would only take a prescription for something severe.

yet you are using the internt, a plastic computer, etc....

When I have a minor headache, I take salt and lemon. For some reason it works. :)

Unless I really cant tolerate the pain I'm in, I'll go without drugs, unless I need to perform, then I'll take something for it. I feel that North Americans really do overmedicate themselves, with even drugs like Advil/Tylenol. Sooner or later, we'll become resistant, and we'll be screwed. Sooner or later, more superviruses will occur, and we'll be screwed because we took too many/didnt need to take antibiotics, etc.

I try not to take medication unless they have to put it in intraveniously. Simply because it's the way I am.

When I am really sick, i'll take any medication that is supposed to treat it. I just want to get better. I just want the sickness to go away.

nope, nothing, nada , nichts - I refuse to take anything. had surgery on my leg this spring, when it's done you can have painkillers if you want to - put them all in the sicknessbag next to the bed. not that i'm a pain addict but pain is something you can control by your own mind.

i take vitamins, and panadol if i really need it.

my mum believes that she has everyfucking disease and allergy ever invented. So shes on all this crazy medication and special diets..

my girlfriends family takes alot of medicine.

can anyone confirm or deny that taking lots of medicine can weaken your immune system? ive heard that somewhere.
