this morning before I went to work I was reading justin and steve plan(I need to do something better with my morning). I found this little entry that spark my curiosity from justin .plan.

could he be couting down the release of winamp5

as long as the number is there then people know what version you are talking about (apart from a few but there will always be a few ;) )

No. AOL is (almost) dead. TimeWarner-Nullsoft Winamp 5.0 would be correct. :p

It differentiates between the two products (Winamp and Winamp3), that's all.

It's Winamp3 1.0 technically. I hate that though. Having even the possibility of a Winamp3 and a Winamp 3.0 is just too horrible to think about.

That's sort of a silly question. I think a better one is: what would have happened if AOL weren't involved?

We'd probably be on Winamp3 v1.8 or something by now, and have the best damn player ever... and we could've probably called it Winamp 3.8 without there being any confusion whatsoever.
Bigger hypothetical question: What would PP be doing? Still coding for Winamp3? Living it up in California? Or would he have quit and gone along with fb2k regardless? Or both?

well the T minus 10 days does come on a thursday which is when they update the site and therefore release updates. though sometimes they release them on the forums first.
