Easter egg
The nul[esc]l[esc]soft easter egg has returned to rc8 using the winamp modern skin. This time it makes the main window change opacity according to the bass beats in the song(the more bass the more winamp disapears)
|
after some checking I have found that this works with other skins also (or atleast the ones ive tried), not just modern. not sure if it works is wa2 skins (doubt it)
|
will someone tell me how to do this?
i assume it uses transparency, which means i have to have xp/2000 ? i have me, but i would like to know |
make sure winamp's main window is your foreground app, then type n-u-l [esc] l [esc] s-o-f-t
|
Wow, I can't believe that worked! lol
Coolies. :) |
Cool :D
|
Already found (discussed somewhere in WA5 Wishlist i think), but yah, it's quite cool. Though... I wouldn't want it activated all the time. would be rather annoying.
And yes, you do have to have Win 2000 or XP to support the Alpha blending. ~WHEREamI |
Really Nice! :)
|
also you can type "nullsoft" by pressing the Control and shift key
|
but when i get to l, it brings up the load box :(
thats ok though, can someone tell me what it does? |

ok, sorry for the bad matrix reference, but it's a visual effect and the description doesn't do the effect justice. It fades in/out on the beat. |
wow thats awesome.
|
At first when I tried it, I thought it just faded in and out, I didn't realise it was a form of beat detection, but in any case, it's pretty cool
|
Hehe.. nothing like listening to metal with blinking winamp and headbanging lamahs! :D
|
Oh yes... Quite so. :D
Just wish they would figure out how to make the beatdetection work for something other than dance music. My llamas are getting a headache. |
I'd like to be able to invert the behaviour of this Easter Egg - so that it gets more solid for harder beats instead of more transparent...
it awesome though :D |
I like the fact that it will also work in the windowshade!!!
Good Job NS!! |
COOOLL =)
Winamp5 eggs RULES! =) This and the lamas are so COOL =) |
I just tried it, and it worked, but when I switched from the default skin to anexia it crashed. :igor:
/edit switched to anexia without it and it crashed. Must be a script error in the skin, not with the egg. |
haha, thats cool, i saw it over at my friends house (he has xp)
i was confused at first because i was pressing baackspace, not esc. |
I'd keep it on all the time if it would turn opaque on a mouse over, b/c it's frustrating when you need to hit a button
|
Yeh... I wud keep it on all the time too. Only problem is that it keeps detecting the beat when I play movie files too! :( Also, anyway to have it work without pressing keys each time it WA is started?
Cheers |
Okay, I'm drinkin' right now... but that's a freakin' cool little extra. About as good as the headbangin' llamas! At first I thought it would be there to, well, just to be there... but it actually works pretty good. Doesn't seem to take much of the CPU either. Nice. Now... they need to have an option to keep the headbangin' llamas stay on, even after closing winamp (you know, not reset back to standard).
|
is there a list of all the Winamp Easter Eggs?

the nullsoft easteregg also works in the classic skin... it puts "it really whips the llama's ass!" in place of winamp on the main window
|
 Whoops...
Hi there rogerwaters247, Be careful when replying to threads. This one is several months old and it is usually frowned upon to revive old threads. The "Nullsoft" e-egg for classic has been around long time. Different classic skins have different messages depending on if the skin developer put the e-egg into the skin. |
