I'm not going to torture y'all with that long list. Click on the ol' linky if you want to check it out. Btw... Senator Clinton has a nomination:weird:

If it weren't for the rock categories, it'd be sunk. And even then, some are a bit questionable. How did Evanescence get so many nominations?

Mike H. 8th December 2003 02:13

There are too many categories. What's the difference between a "song" and a "performance"?

Also, I thought I heard a few years ago that they were adding a category for video game soundtracks, but I didn't see it listed. Did I hear wrong?

Um, "They're a great band" would be my guess.

corkhead0 8th December 2003 02:15

And how is there no metal in the metal category?

I am reminded once again why I never watch awards shows.

Great band my ass. They're Linkin Park meets No Doubt by way of the Go-Go's.

JackalFace 8th December 2003 02:41

They're the Avril Lavigne of goth pop. Or whatever

Nimelennar 8th December 2003 02:45

They're better than 50 Cent and Eminem and Nelly and Beyonce and all of those so called "artists".

Raz 8th December 2003 02:47

Maybe so. There's still a long way to go until the good part of things starts up though.

JackalFace 8th December 2003 02:48

A long way to go, Raz. Music degenerated. It's all of our duty to make it evolve.

Have I possibly found heaven? People who don't wear Evanescence shirts (when they're not wearing Manson shirts) and thing that they are the best band on earth?!

:( I'm terribly disappointed. Only 105 categories this year?!

Spazz333 8th December 2003 03:19

Apparently I'm one of the few that likes Evanescence on here. Granted they are a bit of a Lacuna Coil ripoff, and granted they did have the Linkin Park clone featured on their main song...

Ah hell

Ah hell

They're still a ways above most of what is called music today, but to be nominated as many times as they were is a bit ludicrous.

Mike H. 8th December 2003 03:31

I like Evanescence, but I think 5 nominations is too many. They had ONE huge hit this year.

MontyGail 8th December 2003 03:37

I'd still rather see them win then most of the other "artist" these days. As always the Grammy's are a "who's who of pop culture"...no real talent need apply!

It be nice to see some who can really sing actually win something. At least Evanescence has vocal and writing talent. Gotta give them credit for that.

I'd still much rather shy away from the US music industry.

Spazz333 8th December 2003 03:46

Just noticed that Queens of the Stone Age made the list. Not that they actually have a chance of winning. I can't believe Metallica made it on the list with St. Anger. That CD was the biggest load of shit I've seen in a long time.

Namelessv1 8th December 2003 03:49

Yeah, St. Anger is even worse than Reload.

Mike H. 8th December 2003 03:52

QOTSA certainly deserves to win, but you're right, they probably won't. I've noticed that the winner is usually the least deserving out of all the nominees.

Actually, I rather liked Load/Reload. I think it's better than most of their earlier stuff, although I do enjoy listening to all of it. It's after Reload I think they started going to shit really fast.

superunknown 8th December 2003 19:25

The artist is awarded based on their popularity with the preteen crowd. Which means the pop and (c)rap 'artists' get all the attention. Grammys are a joke.

The first year they added the metal category, Metallica lost to none other than Jethro Tull:rolleyes:

these people have no idea about music, it's about time they let us overhere at the music forum handle the awards:up:
