if i broadcast at 56kbs but

the mp3's are recorded at around 256kbs would it make any difference to my 56kbs stream?
ie, would my listeners still hear the stream at 56kbs?
or will i have to reduce all the streamed mp3's to 56kbs.

They will hear the stream at 56kbps. SHOUTcast re-encodes in realtime.
