Still quite a good album really.

PS - 1984

laz 12th December 2003 20:30

wiat, CD's where around to the public in 1984?!
I feel left out of the music sceen.
The first CD I got that was worthwile was Rage Against The Machine - Battle of Los Angels. 1999.
Ya, I am young, and was not into music too much before then. And all I had was crap that was not really music.
Unless you count the music on the Sim City 2000 game CD.... Then that would be 1995

MidnightViper88 12th December 2003 20:32

The soundtrack to "Godzilla" back in '99, or somewhere around that time...

Won 2nd place in this Godzilla drawing at my local Target...First time I ever won anything too... :D

marvinbarcelona 12th December 2003 20:33

When I bought my first cd player you got a "choice";

U2,
Tina Turner
Dire Straights

and as I bought The Joshua Tree on the release date, 1985, the date is correct. Scary that they've been around so long...gee, it was only yesterday.....

LollipopLustKil 12th December 2003 20:50

I recently found that out while looking through the 2004 edition to the "Guinesses Book of World Records" last night...They were first released to the public in 1981, I think...As advanced as they were, they were probably as popular as a cable internet connection in the mid-90's...

JackalFace 14th December 2003 18:47

I think the first CD I ever got had to be something like Chipmunks, Ray Stevens, or Ace Ventura soundtrack. I was a really cheesy kid.

Cylob 17th December 2003 15:48

Cylob 17th December 2003 17:15

That has to be the most embarassing yet. It's lucky we know your taste ertmann, otherwise the forum alarm would be ringing.

No way! I bought Smash a couple of years after release, but I played it so much you could see through the CD after the first month. :D

Drove my second wife nuts. She kept wanting to listen to this new band called "Savage Garden". Damn blondes!

Cylob 17th December 2003 18:14

The Offspring must be an american thing then. They're so tacky I'd have to wear gloves to handle the CD. *drop carefully into the bin*

I guess it's kinda sad that I can't remember the first CD I ever bought.
But I do remember the first record I bought.
It was the 45rpm single of "She Loves You" by The Beatles, back in 1963.
The "B" side is a song titled "I'll Let You Go".
I still have it...scanned @ 100% in the attachment.

The first album I bought was "Meet The Beatles" in 1964.
Still have it too.

Raz 18th December 2003 19:46

I own the first 6 offspring albums. Overplayed, a long time ago. Now rotting on the shelf in the 'crap' section of a large stack of cd's.
