Twilightseer 19th December 2003 08:02

There are two songs I'm constantly listening to, unsurprisingly, they are the two new Pet Shop Boys songs : 'Miracles' and 'Flamboyant'. The first one is a gorgeous love anthem, the second one is pure PSB electronica, among their best tunes EVER and that says something  :D

Cylob 19th December 2003 15:18

I didn't think much of either of those. But no doubt I'll end up liking them (I usually do).

Adding.....

Cursive - The Ugly Organ (2003)

L7 ~ Bricks Are Heavy (1992) ........ Sneaker Pimps ~ Becoming X (1996)

Cylob 20th December 2003 20:26

I love all 3 of the above. This thread gets better.:)

Barbara Morgenstern - Fjorden (2000)
http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...17884iffzd.jpg

AMG weren't able to pigeonhole Barbara into a genre, so they invented 'indie electronic'. I'm struggling with it myself... I may cop-out and just tag it 'ambient-pop'.

Hmmm...fodder for research. This looks like something else I might like. I love electronica and I love the female voice (in case that wasn't painfully obvious already). Does she sing? Or only mix/create?

Cylob 20th December 2003 20:55

She does both very well. Not a million miles from Sneaker Pimps (given that they're both trippy).

Luomo - The Present Lover (2003)

Another genre I never knew existed - 'micro house'. There's nothing micro about this album. Maybe if I copied it to a minidisc...

I'm getting so many influences in this thread. These in particular, right now. Got a sudden urge to hear mass amounts of Zeppelin and Tool... :)

Cylob 28th December 2003 10:09

Good stuff Triton.:) I don't think I have any oriental stuff (Lali Puna are German, I don't know the reason behind their name).

I take it Hevia plays the pipes (either that or he's holding them for someone). Interesting.

taylormemer 28th December 2003 10:30

Probably trying to look good:):P

Triton4 28th December 2003 11:36

LOL! You guys have a priceless sense of humour :)

BTW, José Ángel Hevia (the guy in the pic) is a Spanish artist; and his music really rocks (isn't it interesting to know that his music is entirely played on pipes?)

taylormemer 28th December 2003 12:03

Very intresting indeed. One of my dad's mates playes the bag pipes.

Bonheur 28th December 2003 12:40
