Where is the new user interface?
I just downloaded and installed the Full Winamp 5.0 player (free version). I did not have any previous versions of Winamp on this computer. I immediately went to the online Help and selected the "Using the Winamp Media Player" topic. It shows the Winamp interface; this is not the interface I see when I run Winamp. What I get looks like an old version of Winamp (I had an older version on another computer). I checked my version in About Winamp, and it reads as follows:
v5.0(x86) - Dec 14 2003 Why might I be getting the old user interface? How do I get the new one? Thanks. Gary P.S. I'm sure this question has asked before, but I did try to search the forums and look through the Tech Support Greatest hits and I couldn't find it. |
What is referred to in the help system is most likely the ability to use freeform skins. If you opted to install 'modern' skin support, you should be able to switch to the modern skin either in the Winamp preferences or in the main menu.

Thanks for your help. I did not realize that the user interface is what "skin" refers to. I thought that had to do with the visualizations that appear in the interface. I had the "classic" skin selected. When I changed it to "modern" I got the interface shown in the Help.
