Christian Visualizations?

Hi guys/gals

im new to this forum *waves at everyone here* and didn't want to cause any type of religious uprising but just wanted to know where i can get good christian visualizations for winamp 5.0

P.S wouldn't mind knowing where to get anything dealing with christianity for winamp 5.0! eg. lyrics, plug-ins

Thanks guys:)

Deamon 24th December 2003 22:02

I made a preset of a 3D cross once. Download my AVS pack "HyperNation" (see my signature). It's in there. I don't know any other religious presets though.

Fishzn 24th December 2003 22:28

Why thank you ppl, a very quick reply by many forums standards!

D/l'ing hypernation right now daemon!!!

Oh m2k, what exactly is the interesting part in that thread, forgive me its two in the morning in South africa!

mikm 24th December 2003 23:05

the zip file Avs Knockout Round 2.zip

UnConeD 25th December 2003 01:10

Um what would make a visualisation particularly Christian? The request is kind of pointless unless you specifically want stuff with crosses.

sidd 25th December 2003 12:44

haha, thats exactly what i was thinking, except i didnt want to sound rude by saying it.

Visualisations are visualisations, christianitiy is christianitiy. The two are completely different things. I dont think people make avs with any particular message, its just pretty pictures that go with tha music.

forgive me, its christmas and im drunkedy-drunked.

PAK-9 25th December 2003 17:17

rofl. hehe..hehe... no I'm ok... bwahahah rofl

dirkdeftly 25th December 2003 17:24

if ucd says it, it can't be rude :D

sidd 26th December 2003 01:41

words to live by.

Deamon 26th December 2003 14:16

I don't agree with you guys. I think presest can be religious. You can be very creative with all kind of religious symbols. In a texered or pictured preset, or by scoping (or DM-ing) them yourself. Though indeed it would require the use of those symbols.

Rovastar 26th December 2003 17:57

The most Christian plugin I know is Andy O'mears G-Force. As being a strong Christian he named the whole visualization after God the G stands simply for God.

Well if technicality is your strong point and you wish to pick at such exact's, then i would say a Christian AVS, would be something relating in anyway to the religion or the faculty's associated with it! I mean how would you want to define it?

BTW, thanks for the helpful replies and its great to see the humongous amount of talent present here, some guys are absolute geniuses with code and make the most awesome visualization's!

Any definition of christian AVS's are welcome and i will gladly d/l it if you feel it fits ur definition and then i will decide for myself!

Once again THANKS;)

cmountford 30th December 2003 03:31

well, Lord of the Rings has many religious themes to it, though I wouldn't compare it directly in every aspect to Christianity. I made a preset Sauron's Fiery Eye, search AVS forums.

Well it isn't strictly winamp, but I thought it might be of interest to you...I did a re-do of 50 Cent's In da Club

You can check it out at http://e.1asphost.com/sharkdarapper/Index.htm

Note this recording isn't perfect, has some blips etc. & cuts off too early, though the perfect version I have on my studio. http://e.1asphost.com/sharkdarapper/..._attempt_2.ogg

I'm in the process of (slowly) re-doing my site based on suggestions from the forums (like replacing the spaces in the file names with underscores, etc.) It works fine with IE 6.____ (whatever)

[edit]: oh, yeah...forgot to say, I know WA 5 is out...just haven't gotten around to updating my site ;)

UnConeD 30th December 2003 07:19

Your URLs with spaces work fine here. Make sure to encode them as %20 (according to specs).

By the way, never, ever use office for HTML output. The source for that page is hideous, and doesn't look better than bare HTML without CSS.

Deamon 30th December 2003 07:38

And with CSS, you could make it really nice :), and CSS is about the simplest thing to 'design' web sites.

cmountford 30th December 2003 15:26

thanks...I'll try and see if I can get dreamweaver. Is it any good for web design? Somebody told me it was

Tuggummi 31st December 2003 16:29

Christian AVS... hmm... makes one wonder, what does make one a christian visualization? If we are now sticking to avs (after all this is the AVS forums ;)) what about the comments that people include within a preset? Can something that a author said in the comment make a preset non-accetable for christians? I don't know about others, but i talk, i talk so much i can't even remember half of it :D But also when i write comments im not thinking wheter or not this or that kind of people would find it offending... So could a bad comment spoil a good preset is what im basicly asking :)

Also, the whole thought of a christian avs is kinda... well, how does one say it, very much subtle concept. Is it the title of the preset that makes it? What the presets shows for you in the screen? Or does ones words count for anything?

All i can say, that avs that is directed to any certain group of people by religion / politics / country is a very very rare sight around here, the community. One might be touchy by discussing about them, but most of us are pretty neutral i guess. We just do avs that we like, very very rarely it has any kind of a point or message behind it :)

I personaly like HTML_TidyUI and Notepad :p

(sorry, this is not about christian visualizations)

canazza 31st December 2003 21:33

I made some pretty basic 'jesus' ones inspired by this topic...

Same picture of jesus manipulated in different ways within Winamp.

Including Jelly Jesus, which i'm particularly proud of, check out http://canazza.deviantart.com for the file

I now have dreamweaver...which I've heard is quite nice

haven't gotten a chance to look at the link yet...too late

oh I almost forgot: Happy New Year, everyone!

cmountford 1st January 2004 08:58

I just got an idea for what ppl might be able to do (or possibly done(??))---something about Christmas lights...or convert Mr. Happy into Santa-lol.

Deamon 1st January 2004 10:33

Happy new year to you guys from me as well :)

Warrior of the Light 5th January 2004 07:31

@cmontford: What has Santa to do with Christianity?

@all: Happy new year 2 u 2

And for defining christian presets, a lot of presets are just.. visualizations (funny, heh?), others are created to look like something and can be christianity-themed. Can Vis-presets be christian? I wonder...

legohead 6th January 2004 00:09

Christian VIS:

Insert Text ape: "Hail mary full of grace..."

What tha? Are you guys having some sort of freaky religo prayer meeting or something? Plugin to some prayer and trippy visuals -ROCK!

Ooh... thats creepy.

Braininator 12th January 2004 07:22

Hey all, I'm making a set of Christian visualizations at the moment, won't be anything spectacular but they'll be cool.

Warrior of the Light 12th January 2004 08:26

I'll be joining you shortly, perhaps even under another nickname... ;)

times2 12th January 2004 17:03

christian visualisations

did anyone ever see the (amiga) demo called 'Jesus on Es'?

that was the first credible use of a computer for live entertainment (apart from games) that i ever saw.

seriously guys music visualisation and religion? seems about as relevant as dancing about architecture.

t

Warrior of the Light 13th January 2004 05:46

Then you must be amazed about the amount of requests I've had... Really, don't underestimate it.

But no, I didn't see it.

Tuggummi 13th January 2004 06:34

hahah, times2 has watched "The 6 lessons of love" (or something like that) :D

Yes i think it's irrelevant too, but im just curious could a good preset be ignored just by it's title or comment? Maybe im wrong (or generalizing), but to me it seems that a preset named "Multiple Orgasms" doesn't get much of audience from christians... :p

Deamon 13th January 2004 20:39

lol @ tugg :D

Deamon 14th January 2004 13:03

on the other hand, maybe some pervert priests would watch ;)

Tuggummi 15th January 2004 05:34

Blasphemy! Slap him in the mouth! :D

Santa Claus would not exist without christianity. The name is a permutation of 'Saint' and Nicholas.

Anyway, I don't think anything without the ability to invent a god can be christian. AVS presets probably don't have souls/minds, whether or not souls/minds exist.

:igor:
I really can't even guess where in the worlds name you come up with that thought! Computers or computer generated/produced 'stuff' has a soul? (you talked only about avs presets, maybe you think Windows OS's have a soul... which is a rather frightening thought...)

Anyway, when things get into talking about does AI have a soul, it's better to stop :)

OnionRingOfDoom 18th January 2004 01:36

Yeah, that is just a bit creapy.

Insolent_Chimp 18th January 2004 02:28

To: Tuggummi and OnionRingofDoom

When I say soul/mind what I mean is: has a dualism, as in mind & body, rather than simply body.

In Douglas Coupland's novel 'Microserfs' one of the characters builds a 'soul' database for his notebook.

The idea isn't that farfetched. If we are simply material beings--in other words, having mind and body exist as one entity, rather than a dualism--then AI would have all of the same faculties as humans possibly even better ones. Have you ever seen 'Bladerunner' or even that crappy movie 'AI'?

For the purposes of this, read mind as subjectivity and body as objectivity. I don't mean brain when I say mind, unless I am talking about materialism.

If we exist with seperate mind/soul and body then there is no locus for subjectivity, so how will AI have a subjective viewpoint without it being put there by a human? And exactly where is it 'put'? There is no location for the 'mind'. So does it spontaneously form in an conceptual reality at the conception of subjectivity?

AI uses heuristics, which in turn come from thought and sensory data, and thought comes from the mind/brain. Either way it's subjective. And if you're the kind who believe in souls you shouldn't exclude the possibility of AI having a soul, after all quantum physics seems to suggest that it's more than probable, seeing how our world is really an interaction and interpretation of ourselves.

Other literature and movies that ponder the question of AI and souls:

Pinnochio
2001: A space oddessey
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Supernova

That's just off the top of my head. C'mon, like this really came out of far left field. It's been a pretty common thought for quite a while.

Yathosho 18th January 2004 16:15

the day this thread dies, i'm going to church and pray thank you :p

UnConeD 18th January 2004 18:30

Um Deamon, Santa Claus IS Saint Nicolas IS Sinterklaas. They are just warped versions of the same story.
