Just imagine how collosally rich he could have been if he had sold it for a tiny price...

Just imagine how the web wouldn't have evolved if you had to pay for it.

It would have evolved even if it cost. Instead of crap and junk cluttering the internet, it would have been made much more neater. :)

But the crap and junk are some of the most joyous things on the net.

So why isn't he getting knighted for paving the way?

he paved the way for his government to consider using it or something stupid like that. plus, only british people can be knighted, technically speaking.

I think Al Gore is getting the rough end of the stick for this. The simple fact is that Gore did seriously push for funding and development of the internet. The US press basically lied when they claimed he said that he had invented the internet.

May be folks need to give Gore the credit he deserves.

I've been there, the people over there come up with some genius and crazy stuff, doesn't surprise me that the hypertext program was invented there...

I think it's nice that he was knighted, finally someone more deserving than only musicians and actors...

Can the achieved title be inherited? Or is it only for the person who was knighted? Does it give you any extra priveleges except the sir (e.g. land)? Just some things I'd like ot know about that.

The title cannot be passed down, not does it allow you any privileges. It is supposed to be a reward for service to society, humanity or excellance in your field of work.

And I think it's good that way :up: (There would be way to many "sir"s walking around if it would be passed down to their children) It's a pity that not more countries have something like that, it's way better than some award statue or something like that...not that I would every get something like that anyway :rolleyes:

...or maybe that site is just perpetuating more myths? This kind of thing has been done to Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton and Bush Jr. Most of them are misquotes or just lies. Some are funny, but they usually have politcal motive behind them.

Maybe you could check all of the news links associated with the site? Sure, the news could be wrong, but what, do you want me to go personally follow gore around for 2 years, and administer an IQ test? There are limits to practical levels of reliable information.

those are very nitpicky. they criticise him for slightly misquoting the bible. where people find that relevant to anything, is where i stop reading.

He didn't "slightly misquote the bible", he completele changed the point of the verse - like saying "milk is green", but he quotes it as "green is milk", though I think the stupid part is quoting from the bible at all.

i may have been doing mathematical logic for too long, but i read those as the same thing. and i think you know that yourself :D

they have performed a long, in-depth analysis to prove that he doesn't know the context of a single verse of the bible.maybe he shouldn't have said it then. but it's immeasurably fickle. it picks him out for not knowing the real value of a "trillion". the value he quotes is the european value of a trillion. which is strange, because he goes on to explain it in terms of the american number system. but the point is he clarifies it - does that not show he knows its ambiguity?

the pregnant woman article: the question he is asked is ambiguous. he isn't told whether that means she should still be killed while pregnant, or after she's given birth.

the $29 question's final finding of his clarification as "wrong" is a matter with the definition of "average". i'm not even going into that particular problem with political posturing.

i'm gonna ignore the "collecting cans" one, as i laughed too hard at the inclusion of a poodle to give it a proper look-over.

the james lee witt angle, although valid, has been looked into far too deeply.

note: i don't support the democratic party. i believe both the republicans and democrats stand for basically the same thing (to the degree that a foreign citizen can reasonably be expected to know about them), and i don't support either of them. i think al gore is - basically - a twat, but not for the reasons that site lists. it's political silliness at least as bad as the examples of "wrongdoing" it cites, and really shouldn't be linked to by an intelligent person such as yourself. plus none of them are examples of him being an idiot. 95% of the ones where his mistakes are actually mistakes, it's generally minor facts that he can't be expected to know - he will have been told them by his staff, and told to act as if he knows them himself. politicians lie - it's what they do, more characteristically than anything else.

Sure, Al Gore didn't *really* claim he invented the Internet, I know that, it was simply his choice of words, and I also know most of the things that "make" him "stupid" are stupid themselves. But still, I think he's an idiot. Just looking at him makes me think "STUPID".

Listening to him is even worse. Seriously. Try it some time. If you manage to stay awake for more than 5 minutes listening to his voice, you'll start wondering how he's stayed alive this long. You'd think his stupid would have killed him by now, you know, "ooh, let's jump off this balcony, see what happens".

That's not to say that other polititions are that much smarter, but still...
