Favourite TV/Movie themes

What are your favourite music themes of any TV programmes or Movies you have watched or heard of? If possible, mention the name of the artist too.

My favs:

'Beverley Hills Cop' theme - by AxelF
'Mutiny on the Bounty' - by Vangelis
'Blade Runner' - by Vangelis

ScorLibran 9th January 2004 14:55

What would I choose first but...

Lexx
Opening Theme: Season 2 - Version 2
(composed by Marty Simon)

I don't know the artists of these, but to betray my age with some older ones...

Miami Vice (Jan Hammer, I think)
Magnum P.I.
Simon & Simon

And things more recent...

Enterprise (the first season, pre-banjo version  )
Smallville (Remy Zero ~ Save Me)
Miss Match (Macy Gray)

And my favorite entire soundtracks...

Lexx: The Series (Original TV Soundtrack)
Farscape: Music from the Original Soundtrack
Heavy Metal (OST)
The Fifth Element (OST)
Cirque du Soleil: Mystère (Live in Las Vegas)
...the last one's not a TV or movie soundtrack, but a soundtrack of the greatest live performance I've ever seen: Cirque du Soleil's Mystère, which I saw in Las Vegas in 1996.

Dr Who - by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

It's recognised as a classic, appears on several compilations.

marvinbarcelona 9th January 2004 19:13

Shaft - Isaac Hayes...it hasn't been bettered.

zootm 9th January 2004 20:43

the theme songs to "darkwing duck", "bananaman" and "the A team" rule :D

Cylob 9th January 2004 20:48

'When Eric eats a Banana, Eric is...... BANANAMAN!!!!'

I agree zootm, no contest.:)

But, then there was:

The Mysterious Cities of Gold
Dogtanian & the 3 Muskehounds

and the best of all.....

She-Ra

:)

I liked the intro theme for the short-lived TV show "Weird Science" on USA (the cable channel). I've also heard the original version from the movie and it's not as good.

zootm 13th January 2004 18:56

dangermouse and futurama (the "full" version) ain't bad either...

Mr Jones 13th January 2004 19:05

The Batman and Spiderman themes by Danny Elfman.

MidnightViper88 14th January 2004 00:42

Triton4 14th January 2004 15:46

Anyone heard of the opening and closing themes of the popular Discovery Channel series 'Beyond 2000'?

I know it's old, but I'd like to know the artist who composed them.

ScorLibran 14th January 2004 15:54

One I forgot to mention...

Third Watch (The Crystal Method ~ Keep Hope Alive)

(It's the EXORCIST theme, I even composed it as a ringtone for my cellphone - never used it though since ringtones are annoying - I love that tune, it's simple yet awesome  )

Alright the smiley made me laugh...and obey as you can see...

Now this isn't really just a tune but when I think of movie music I absolutely have to mention Pink Floyd - The Wall...a masterpiece, what need I say more?

Mia:)

Cylob 15th January 2004 20:00

The Wall is an absolute classic (but I would say that)... Most of it was filmed 8 miles from where I live.:)
