A n00b question
Hey all,
I was wondering how to set up shoutcast (linux) so that I can broadcast to it on port 6969 (that's what it would be listenin on) and have people be able to connect to port 8000 to listen to it. Any help would be cool. Peace, Me. |
Do you have a router or other port redirection ability?

if i understand you correctly i dont think you can do what you want to using just shoutcast the source port for shoutcast is always portbase+1 so if people use 8000 to tune in then 8001 has to be your source port. If your using IPtables firewall on your linux machine you could set up you SC server portbase to 6968 which would make it listen for the connection on 6969 and then get IPtables to forward port 8000 to port 6968. If you did this then people connecting through the shoutcast directory would be connecting to port 6968 anyway unless you blocked this port but then you wouldn't get listed in the directory. This assumes your connection goes straight into the linux box if you are using a router then you would have to do the port forwarding on the router.
