Two (or less) easy steps:
1. If you have a firewall, open the necessary port(s).
2. If you have a router, configure it to forward the necessary port(s) to the DNAS machine.

Check out the Sticky post titled:
SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME!

Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled:
DNAS Stuff -> Errors -> Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)

Are the necessary ports open in your firewall and are they being forwarded to the DNAS machine?

Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps.

Please read some polite advice.

Ok I forwarded the ports as I said i had this working already. When I went to radiotoobox they told me that my port was closed and I was behind a firewall. Now I dont have a firewall. I have XP but that firewall has been turned off, unless it turned itslef back on. I have a linksys router.

Has your ISP installed a transparent proxy, try setting the yport in the shoutcast config to 666

djmastermind 20th January 2004 20:11

I am just making sure that you did all of this right:

Disable your XP Firewall.

----

(FIRST, go to the start menu, run..., enter "command". In there, enter "ipconfig".. copy down the entry after "IP Address......")

Go into your internet browser and enter "192.168.1.1" (without quotes). Leave the username part empty and in the pass, put "admin". On the top right, hit "advanced". On top, click "forwarding". Enter the following:

Under Ext. Port: 8000 to 8001
Check the TCP box
Enter the last three numbers of your IP address
Check enable.
Save the settings.

----

Check and make sure any firewalls you have allow SHOUTcast access to the internet, etc.

Its already on port 666. Should i switch it back to 80.

Cobra088 20th January 2004 20:16

Ok its fixed thanks guys. This was the problem I went to ipconfig and saw that thte ip address had changed. WHats up with that. It was at one point 192.168.1.1 now its 192.168.1.3. Is that supposed to happen.

jackherer 20th January 2004 20:19

Yeah when you IP is assigned dynamically by the router it may give you a different one from time to time. Most routers have a reserve IP option that lets you specify a specific IP address for a particular computers ethernet/MAC address so you always get the same one. It would be in the DHCP section of your router config.

djmastermind 20th January 2004 20:20

That it is. I didn't even know that. Thanks, Jack.

MXGzX 20th January 2004 20:21

Yeah I'm having the same problem my ip changed too. Except next time instead of creating a new topic do a search. I already had a post basically exactly the same *problem still not solved* lol So yeah....wake up...j/k

Cobra088 20th January 2004 20:24

So I just put in the address I want it to keep in the dhcp section and it will keep that one address. It has it set up like this 192.168.1.___ there you put the number for the address you want right.
