Winamp makes Matrix sound
I've recently reformatted my c: drive, reinstalled 2000, got my service packs & DirectX and all that set up, and am reinstalling programs one-at-a-time as I need them. Winamp was one of the first I reinstalled.
This time around I decided on a bare-bones installation to see how it affected load time. I unchecked video, modern skins, cddb, cd burning & extraction. Plugins are in_mp3.dll in_wave.dll out_ds.dll out_wave.dll Gen: Close After Current, Find File On Disk, N'soft Hotkeys, N'soft Library, Playlist File Remover, and Wincue. PlayFileRem is currently disabled. Playback on Winamp has become rough and jumpy. When I rewind 10 seconds and check the file the pop or jump isn't there, so I'm thinking the file isn't damaged. I increased the DirectX buffer by a second by that hasn't helped much. Here's the real stinker. When I minimize Winamp playback makes a sound like the one you hear in the Matrix when Neo takes the pill and goes zooming down his own throat into the real world. Any suggestions? |
aha! My soundcard wasn't set as the primary device in DirectSound. I went ahead and allowed hardware acceleration, too. Maybe that'll fix it.
----I tried to delete this thread, since I find it's covered elsewhere but I waited too long or don't have the authority. |
