What happened to the freeform skins?
That was one of my favorite features about Winamp3, that the skins didn't have to be plain ol' boxes anymore. Now 90% of the winamp 5 skins are just trumped-up, flashy *rectangular* boxes! What happened? (yes I know Winamp3 was technically not the 3rd version of winamp, but still...)

Winamp3 Skins -> Modern Skins (Freeform)
Winamp 2.x skins -> Classic Skins |
Huh? What you talking about?
Winamp 5 supports both Winamp 2x (classic) and Winamp3 freeform (modern) skins. All the exact same skins are still available, except they are now all in the one database. To search for modern (freeform) skins only, change the drop-down menu in the search box, eg. http://www.winamp.com/skins/browse.p...lter=F&ctype=S http://www.winamp.com/skins/browse.p...S&category=112 http://www.winamp.com/skins/browse.p...=S&category=12 etc etc |
I know WA3 skins work with Winamp5, I was merely pointing out that the majority of new skins (skins made specifically for Winamp5) are just glorified rectangular boxes.

What I want to know is what's wrong with rectangular skins? Personally I find more functunality and usability in the skins that are rectangular then ones that are circular or other wacky shapes.
take a look at a home audio system, is there a wierd shape to it? what about most portable mp3 players like the iPod? The only major exception are portable CD players because their design is built around the shape of a CD. Quote:
