The only album by this side project band created by Robert Smith from The Cure and Steve Severin from Siouxsie and the Banshees. Very odd but mesmerizing.

Any album produced by Flood, mixed by Alan Moulder (Toni Halliday's hubbie) with percussion by Monti (Curve drummer) can only be a masterpiece. If this is the last album I ever hear I'll die happy.

Everyone jumps up 'Saint Etienne are back!'. Well no, they never went away - they've released excellent music year-on-year. Those fickle masses make me mad!!!! If I was PM, I'd make it illegal to be fickle. Punishment - said person can own only one album per year.:D

Add N to (X) - Avant Hard
http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...56894e27h1.jpg
Year: 1999
Genre: Post-Rock/Experimental, Electronica

Cylob 17th February 2004 12:15

An interesting note about Add N to (X)....

Notice how AMG give them very general labels (Post-Rock/Experimental, Electronica) and can't pin them to something more specific.

I have the same problem, I can't tie Add N to (X) down with any other band. They sit in their own folder, genre-less.

They are, truly unique.:) A pain in the ass, but worth it.

buz 17th February 2004 12:32

Well, I'm not very good for giving the genre of a band so i pick it up at AMG...
But that's true, genre-less might be more suitable.
Anyway, I like them! :)

Cylob 17th February 2004 14:43

Me too.

Gustavo Santaolalla.

I first heard him on the Amores Perros movie soundtrack(good movie and great soundtrack). Then he did the music for 21 grams, and it was amazing.

Kraftwerk - Tour de France

http://www.smh.com.au/ffxImage/urlpi...urdefrance.jpg

Of course everyone knows their old hit "Das Model" but their new stuff is pretty good as well in my opinion - and I don't usually listen to that style of electronic music! (year: 2003
genre: ??? Earlier albums were 80s electronic, New German Wave - special music genre from Germany back then, but now...could someone help out? I always got problems with identifying genres...)

Mia:)

Cylob 20th February 2004 21:56

Kraftwerk:
Experimental Rock, Proto-Punk, Kraut Rock, Club/Dance, Germany, Electronic

I was talking about the genre headache earlier. Kraftwerk are all of the above, they also had a New Wave phase (as you pointed out Mia).

Personally, I associate them with Kraut Rock (a bunch of german bands who pioneered various sounds in the early 1970's).

But anyway,

NJK 22nd February 2004 19:39
