Mansun - Little Kix
*
Year - 2000
Genre: Neo-Prog, Britpop

http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...42932hxvup.jpg
10/10

Mansun were a rare commodity - a 90's neo-prog band. The bastards split after a bust-up in the studio, the irony is they'd completed the album. It was never released.:( The master must be out there somewhere.

Probably the most sample-heavy album of its time. I must stick this in the essential listening thread, after all, time has made it a classic.:)

Rush - Power Windows (1985)

Year - 1985:
Genre: Hard Rock, Prog-Rock/Art Rock, Album Rock

IMO, Power Windows & Hold Your Fire stand out among Rush albums. They almost qualify as their own genre, I've heard nothing like it... anywhere.

buz 26th February 2004 02:11

A few people did that already... But they had an NME award! :p :D
Anyway, I don't like them so much either.
And here is a new album that I like a lot (well, after only 2 listening sessions yet):

Sophia - People are like seasons

Artist: Talking Heads
Album: Popular Favorites 1976-1992: Sand In The Vaseline
Released: 1992
Genre(s): Post-Punk, New Wave
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

This is a compilation of Talking Heads greatest hits, plus a few not-so-well-known tracks. I'm not a huge Talking Heads fan, and this album is perfect for someone like me, who likes the band, wants all the songs of theirs that I've heard, but doesn't want to buy their whole collection. Engineering and mastering quality are good, overall.

:)

Genre: Vocal

Favorite Track: Make someone happy; Once in every Heart

I thought we were supposed to pick rare artists. I picked Jimmy since most of the muscial listeners nowadays only recognize him as the guy who sang Frosty the Snowman. But the best song I've heard him on is Black Strap Molasses and Weet Germ Bread

Everyone say hello to Russian goddess Milla Jovovich, movie actress (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil), and also a pop/folk singer/songwriter/musician.
