Troubles w/ shoutcast.com and net-radio
alright, when i go to shoutcast.com i click regularly or/and right click then click open link winamp doesn't recognize the action. another problem i'm having is when i click the internet radio but in winamp ver. 5 only 6 rap stations show up when i select rap genre i assume there should be more since winamp works with shoutcast?!
thanks, jt |
What's your Windows OS and internet browser?
Have you tried emptying your internet cache? Is Winamp properly associated with PLS playlist files? Winamp 5.02 > Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> File Types. Make sure PLS is selected in the extension list. Checkmark "restore associations on winamp startup" Close Prefs, close & reopen Winamp. Re: Media Library > Internet Radio Go to: Prefs > Media Library > Internet TV/Tadio Maximum number of streams to fetch from directory: Default is something like 300 I've increased mine to 2000, and when I select Rap in the Genre box I get about 50 results. |
thanks man that really helped. for the future ref. i'm using XP.

Well, I'm a long time winamp internet radio user and here lately it seems that half the streams that used to be available are now gone, and the ones that are there are buffering like crazy? I have noticed this is a recent problem with ppl. Is there something goign on with the master server? i'm trying to get a response from DJ egg himself since he seems to know evrything winamp.

I'm streaming as I write this, but shoutcast is not finding my station in the search menu, or even sorting by bit rate.
Something happened yesterday afternoon to shoutcast, and there are no longer high bit rate streams. I only find 14 pages of stations now, where I used to get 300 pages worth at 25 per. Quote:

Somthing's definitely not working. For example, I can take this URL: http://64.236.34.196:80/stream/1017/ paste it into iTunes or Media Center and it plays just fine. If I paste it into Winamp I get: [Error synching to MPEG]... nothing!

Yes, I think there was a transient problem with the Shoutcast dir yesterday, but afaik, everything is working ok again now.
I just refreshed my library ir list, 2000 streams came down, I tested a few 128/160k streams, and all the ones I've tried so far are streaming/playing perfectly, with no buffering issues whatsoever :/ So, if anyone's still having problems, then it's possibly some external issue to blame. @Barefoot All broadcaster issues should be reported/posted in the Shoutcast Tech forum. @mrsnarky That url is dead no matter which player I try it with. What station is it, btw? |
