Winamp 5.02 skips when I type (read the faqs)
 

Hello,

First I'd like to apologize for any ignorance on my part :) I skimmed the faqs and tried a few of the solutions, but nothing worked.

System Specs
-Asus A7N8X rev2.0
-AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08Ghz)
-Mushkin pc2700 512Mb x 2 (1 Gb Total - Dual Channel)
-Onboard sound (The A7N8X uses an onboard Realtek® ALC650 audio CODEC)
-ATI Radeon 9600 XT
-Windows XP Professional
-DirectX 9.0b

It was a clean installation of Winamp 5 (upgraded to 5.02). 3rd party plugin is DFX.

The problem only occurs when I type (in Word, AOL IM, Everquest...). I can drag windows, scroll and do just about anything else with no problems. But whenever I type, it skips very bad (it's skipping/chooping now while I type this).

Note: I have the latest Realtek drivers installed (since the A7N8X does not use Soundstorm, the NVidia Nforce drivers do not work).

"Q6: When I try to open the Nvidia control panel it tell me the audio driver failed to initialise, what can I do?

A: This is usually down to the differences between the southbridges on the board... ...the manufacturer of the board has not enabled 'soundstorm'

For now if you have the MCP (ie no soundstorm) try the realtek drivers if you have problems with the nvidia ones."
