Run Hijack This again
and have it fix the following spyware/malware entries: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Belt] C:\WINDOWS\Belt.exe O16 - DPF: {E8EDB60C-951E-4130-93DC-FAF1AD25F8E7} (MoneyTree Dialer) O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) After rebooting, it will now be safe to delete belt.exe Best to also run a fully updated Spybot Search & Destroy scan again (if you haven't already), just to make sure. ______________________________________________________________ Apart from that, you've got quite a few unnecessary programs loading at startup, some of which are known resource hoggers. This is a good guide to let you know what items are essential or not. http://www.lafn.org/webconnect/mento...p/PENINDEX.HTM Personally, I'd disable the following, and only run them manually, if and when needed: Start > Programs > StartUp folder Find Fast Go to: Control Panel > Find Fast You can disable autostart from here Microsoft Office StartUp (osa.exe) Just delete the shortcut in the Startup folder O4 - Global Startup: InterVideo WinScheduler.lnk = C:\Program Files\InterVideo\MSIPVS\WinScheduler.exe Program Name: Intervideo WinScheduler Executable Name: WinScheduler.exe SchSvr.exe Required: No Comments: WinScheduler is installed with WinDVD Remote Control for WinDVD from Intervideo. If you want to schedule recordings from your TV tuner card, you will need it. Available via Start -> Programs ______________________________________________________________ As for the rest, well, let's see... O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDVDPatch] CTHELPER.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Jet Detection] "C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLive\PROGRAM\ADGJDet.exe" These 3 are all useless Creative SB Live/Audigy apps. Program Name: CTHELPER Executable Name: CTHELPER.EXE Required: No Comments: CTHELPER is a background task that is a plug-in manager for Creative drivers. The theory is that 3rd party manufacturers can use the CTHELPER plug-in interface to produce drivers, add-on features, and fixes that will integrate with a tighter fit with Creative’s sound drivers and utilities. Given its purpose CTHELPER would normally be classified as a "leave alone" background task.Unfortunately there are often problems with CTHELPER, most notably that it can use 100% of CPU time so it's best left disabled. UpdReg.EXE This is just some stupid reminder to register your Creative hardware/software. ADGJDet.exe [Jet Detection] Apparently, for auto-detection of headphones? Totally useless, afaik. You can disable these 3 items either with HijackThis or by unchecking them in msconfig > startup tab (start > run > msconfig) ______________________________________________________________ O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime Aah, RealPlayer and QuickTime's useless tray icons. The RealUpdater thing is commonly classed as spyware, so I'd definitely disable this (but be warned, it has a tendency to re-enable itself everytime you use RealPlayer). QTTASK is just a useless resource hog. ______________________________________________________________ O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01\bin\jusched.exe Sun Java Update Scheduler. Not required at startup. There's an option to disable this in the Java Control Panel / Preferences. ______________________________________________________________ The rest are up to you. If you regularly use any of the following, then leave them as they are. Otherwise, disable these as well (note, there may be an option within the preferences of these apps to check/uncheck load at Windows Startup) MSN Messenger | WinBrush ? | Yahoo Pager | Intervideo Cinema Manager O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinBrush] C:\Program Files\WinBrush 2002\winbrush.exe /S O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Pager] C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\ypager.exe -quiet O4 - Global Startup: InterVideo WinCinema Manager.lnk = C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\WinCinemaMgr.exe ______________________________________________________________ Logitech Software O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LVCOMS] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\QCDriver2\LVCOMS.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechGalleryRepair] C:\Program Files\Logitech\ImageStudio\ISStart.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechImageStudioTray] C:\Program Files\Logitech\ImageStudio\LogiTray.exe Program Name: LVComs Executable Name: lvcoms.exe Required: No Comments: Lvcomm server. Related to Logitech Quick Cam - works fine without it LAFN classes LogitechGalleryRepair (ISStart.EXE) as: User Choice Program Name: LogitechImageStudioTray Executable Name: LogiTray.exe Required: No Comments: Logitech Image Studio - installed with Logitech QuickCams ______________________________________________________________ The rest: Re: Download Accelerator Plus/Pro Do you use this as your download manager? Yahoo Pager/Messenger & MSN Messenger Disable if you don't use them (uncheck relevant options in program prefs/settings) All the other entries relate to Norton AV and Adobe/Acrobat The rest of the 016 entries (Downloaded Program Files folder) seem to be safe enough. |
