Winamp acting up.
Something really weird is happening with my copy of Winamp. No matter what preference changes I make to it, everytime I reopen the file after closing it down... say, after shutting down or whatever, none of my settings are saved.
It just comes up with the default. What's worse, it's doing this with my playlists too, so I always have to go back and reopen the playlist. Though I make changes to my playlist and save them, everytime I reopen the Winamp program, none of the changes appear. I have to reload the saved playlist. It's really making me angry. Any ideas as to what's wrong? Extra Info: OS: Windows ME. Recently had the computer wiped and reinstalled due to a virus infecting the entire system. Haven't had this problem before. Already replaced old copy of Winamp with new Version 5. |
1. Go to the Winamp folder usually C:\Program Files\Winamp depending on where WA5 installed.
2. Right click on Winamp.ini 3. select Properties 4. General tab 5. make sure Read-only is unchecked 6. OK button 7. do the same for Studio.xnf Also, be sure to close Winamp before shutting down Windows or the computer. That will allow Winamp to properly save its settings. Do you have any 3rd party plug-ins? The problem could be related to a dodgy plug-in No, dice? Try a full uninstall/reinstall of Winamp 5. All right, thanks! I know now what the problem was.
You see, when I sent the computer off to have it fixed, I burned the Winamp Program Files to a CD. Must have forgotten to uncheck the "Read-Only" feature for one of the files when I copied it back onto the computer. Thanks very much for the help. |
