How to become legal.
I am not interested in paying to broadcast music on the internet, and I understand that you can simply ask, but who do you ask? The band itself? Also, even if you get permission the broadcast your music, do you think that if you download the music illegally, it's still not legal?
Gurrr....that sounds confusing. |
I wish it were as easy as asking.. That's fine if their unsigned, but...
-- The rules/laws vary depending on the source location. For folks in the U.S.A. (and others wanting a good read), try this for starters. For a more definitive answer, please consult legal assistance. Please see this thread for royalty options via SWCast. |
Another question...Can you get sewed for broadcasting music without becomeing signed. Kinda like getting sewed for dowloading music.

Seriously, if you get permission by a band to stream, then send one more email asking them to mail you promo copies of their music for you to stream. They should have a few of them lying around. This is exactly what I did for one of my streams. I ended up not only getting all of their releases, they sent me a few CD-Rs of unreleased stuff with a not to "mix some of this in too, as a bonus for your listeners" Now wasn't that nice ;) |
